Cadre???

Very nice TW. Beautiful work, and a great stride in creativity!

I like it,

Very interesting. Always good to test the limits and see what's possible. Worrying about all the small details like the size of the grind and the colors is secondary to first getting the ideas realized in an actual working knife.

Ah yes the Cadre. Well the Cadre was a last minute concept we put together prior to the Show. This was the first proto, and I just wished we had a bit more time for a 2nd one, as the geometry was slightly off. The concept was more playing with the idea of blade "sculpting". We wanted to push the envelope with an art design and at the same time use the latest materials available.

As you can see, there was an incredible amount of machine work with this piece.

Spec's include
CPM-110V blade steel
3-D machined Titanium Frame Lock

We are on the fence on whether to produce the 500 pieces we promised, but we will have to see. Will greatly enjoy hearing your feedback (good or bad).

Very nice. This proto's color combo is the best of the 2, IMO. The only change I'd like to see is more curve in the top of the blade, to reflect the curve of the handle. Here is an example from a knife maker, who is unfortunately no longer with us.

Couple of images for you:

Wow, that's a very interesting design. I like it, although I would not have a chance at affording it.

Oh Mike must be referring to the fact that he came up with the name Cadre. Got to give him credit on this one. Funny what words a good Scotch can bring out.

Mike came up with that name?!?!?!

Wow, amazing things CAN happen:D

Nice, Mike.

Thomas, sorry if I missed this somewhere, but is the blade MIM'd or just 3-D machining?

he called it sculpting, but since steel isnt like modeling clay i would say machined.

The recessed machine area's (sculpting) is what the Cadre is all about. It's about taking the latest greatest steel, and processing it in a way that eyes have rarely seen. We can make a standard knife whenever we want. Just wasn't the goal with this project.

Here you go OL.... you are correct sir!

it is machined i do believe. there is no way that thing is MIM'd. If it is, then WOW.

I don't know if it is, but that is the whole point of MIM technology. A blade shape like that would be easier to produce in quantity using MIM and then clean up with CNC.

Of course the first prototypes would have to be made by hand, CNC, or 3D prototyping until molds could be made.

Could you even MIM CPM110V?
