California Bush Bash IV. October 22-24, 2010

As for next bush bash. Its not much closer but i would like to do it in the desert. There would be more places to hike and we could practice desert survivl.

I'm with you on this. Wildflowers in Anza Borrego.

It looks like I will only be able to be there for the day on Friday. How many will be there by Friday afternoon? If there will be a large enough group to make it worth the effort, I'll make scones. And this time I'll make the dough from scratch, it's a lot better than the frozen dough I used last time.

I'll be arriving Thursday afternoon, the fire will be hot and the beer will be cold and ready when you get there on Friday.

Just remember that if you organize a gathering inside Anza Borrego State Park, they do not permit any ground fires and you can't have loaded firearms. There are quite a few other restrictions too. If you camp on BLM land outside the Park, the rules are a LOT more lenient.

Back to the top for the head count. Right now it looks like 8 to 10ish.

Just threw 5 lbs. (wet) of london broil in the dehydrator...hope everyone likes jerky with a little kick in it.

Im already started to pack to make sure i dont forget anything. Jason you never seen my nephew or niece eat jerky.. You better double it. As always im bringing bagels and creamcheese. Dress warm and does anyone have a large tarp??? it might rain there. All the kids talk about now is going camping. Aaron is all excited about seeing everyone again. He asks if all the same guys would be there again.

Sasha

I'll bring a couple tarps. Weather looks good so far. I doubt it'll rain. If it does, it'll add to the experience, right?

I'm also bringing my .22 rifle, a few pistols, and maybe my .223 rifle this time. Sasha, did you get your scope on your CZ? If Dave is there, we're gonna get us a squirrel or something.

For food... I'm bringing a pack of ribeyes again. Quantities are limited, and I'm not splitting them in half. Half a ribeye is no good. We can have another contest to see who gets one. :)

I'll also bring some beer, sodas, chips, and sausages.

Mike, some tarps and rope would be great. The weather forecast here in Visalia says chance of showers on Sunday. Otherwise the weather looks good. The first bushbash we had it was pouring rain the first day. We still had a great time.

Hi mike yes i did scope my CZ. Going to sight it at the camp ground. Going to bring my hunting lic with me just in case. Not that i would need it as the two of us know he would laugh his little tail off. while the two of us miss him but a foot or more lol. We had some great time when it rained.

Bringing several tarps and some rope just in case. NOAA is showing a slight chance of showers and mostly cloudy all weekend, so we may get a little damp.

Bad news on the jerky front. Overnight the cat got into a bag of it. I have 2.5 lbs of normally seasoned jerky, and 2.5 lbs of jerky seasoned with cat lip leavins. Yum!

I say you got enough time to make some cat jerky... YUMMMYY... Next time get a pet for a real man >>>>> DOG<<<<< They taste better then cats too just in case they get into the jerky...

Sasha

I've started packing as well. After packing my car to the roof the 1st time I went to the Bush Bash, I've slowly whittled my stuff down to where it fits in two boxes... and a gym bag for clothes... and my gun bag. I think I need to do more whittling.

On another note... I've decided NOT to practice doing a bow drill, but I have watched a few youtube videos. I believe I'm ready to win that knife. I will prove that stuff you learn on the internet is as good as real-world experience. :)

I'll try to be there late Friday afternoon. Otherwise, I'll be there early on Saturday as you guys are just waking up.

In that case you better make your self usefull and start making breakfast for everyone.. I shall be there early friday.

Sasha

Hey guys, if you're driving up in the afternoon, there will probably be a bunch of tarantulas crossing the road. Be careful not to smash the little cuties.
