I myself am proud to be called an Eagle Scout, and I thought I should take it upon myself to inform all of you about something great from Buck. I found out from 334Dave that Buck makes a custom buck 500 just for Eagle Scouts. It has your: name, troop number, and date of award. These are engraved for free on each of the four bolsters. I haven't received one yet, but I have again been told that it is also supposed to be very inexpensive. Almost like a gift from the Buck family themselves. Hopefully 334Dave will find this thread and say a bit more on the details as he has actually purchased two of them. Just to say ahead of time, Congradulations to those of you who stuck it out and made Eagle Scout, it is a great honor that can't be bought like everything else these days.

Just to add to this I thought it would be neat to hear any scouting stories where your buck came in handy or had to be used.

Sincerely, J.

well i have been called one of bucks cheer leaders...
and the info is correct ... contact Buck email or you can call the store i got the ones i ordered by talking with Chuck's assistant!!
it is some thing the Buck's consider important as they support the principles of Scouting.

I would like to let Chuck Buck or CJ or Joe tell you the rest on this as it is an important thing to them and i don't want to steal the icing off their cake!!!
your humble friend Dave

Yep...
Here's the scoop from Buck:

"Yes, we have a knife for Eagle Scouts. It is the Model 500 Duke. It is only used for Eagle Scouts unless it is a Limited Edition like the ones in this and last years catalog. The cost is $32.00 plus $2.48 for tax for a total of $34.48. Shipping and Engraving are included in that price. We engrave the Scout's name, the Eagle Scout emblem, their troop number and their Board of Review date."
Engraving is on the bolsters.

You will need to send in a copy of your Eagle Scout card or certificate with your order to Buck (along with a check for $34.48).

OK good news here, i have a give away on hunting storyes going ...
i feel a need to extend a opening to that give away by including scout storyes as memtioned above in that ... so scouting storyes will have that posting number included in the 242 give away drawing...

Thanks again for letting us know about this! I probably would have never found this out if you hadn't said anything. Small world after all, and to think, this all started when I bought my third buck 110 a few days ago...thanks again, J.

Oh that was you! I just read your post right after I posted the one above this. I read into that thread but ran out of time the other day since I had to go to class. It was the thread about the hunting stories right? If you can, remind me where the thread is and I'll be sure to share some good Philmont stories. I went there twice, once with my scout troop, and once after that with my venture scout crew. It is an incredible place and every scout should make the chance to go there.

Yeah, thanks Decaf for the lead. All I had was a little Eagle Scout SAK (now AWOL).

This will be my 1st 500.

Didn't seem like they offerred inlays. I think the only surprise in the dialogue was that "I" am an Eagle Scout

*perks ears up*

A callout for the Eagles? I'm in. :)

Eagle Scout class of 1997, finished my Board of Review and headed to the Jamboree. Got my OA Vigil Honor the next year. :D

My wife is always looking for ideas of things to get me for Christmas. My stock answer in the past has been "bayonets" but she has always been resistant to that idea. This is perfect.

I've been a Scout leader for many years. I always look for something special to give to the boys who make it to Eagle. I know what my future Eagle Scouts will be getting as a gift.

My son made Eagle years ago:D and I was then and am still very proud of his commitment and determination to make that goal in the midst of "discovering" life's pleasures as a teenager. I would love to get him one of these knives. :) Who has a PIC they can share? Somone also mentioned Philmont. Always wanted to go when I was a Scout myself but my parents could in no way afford that for me. :thumbdn: I made sure my son got to go and in some way I got to "go" too. ;) Lets see that knife!:D:D

Philmont is the greatest place that I've ever been. If one of you could just tell me how to put a pic on here, I'd be more than happy to post some from the top of Baldy or just at Philmont. Thanks ahead of time, J.

Hello All,
Does anyone have this knife and can post a pic?

Hello All,

Does anyone have this knife and can post a pic?

thanks!!

I have been advised that they are waiting for sheaths...I will then have mine.
Will post a pic of it for one dollah.

Received yesterday from my Secret Squirrel at Buck: "It will be at least 3 weeks before I can get this out to you. We are waiting on some new sheaths for the Model 500. As soon as they come in I will send it right out."

Squeaky Wheel Goose.

Im an Eagle Scout. Got it at an extremely early age....youngest ive heard! I got Eagle at 13, went on to get three palms on top of that if memory serves me right. I dont use or own many production knives, though....but attribute my knife love that led to becoming a maker as well as rifle training in boyscouts to most if not all of my hobbies today.
