Calling all Eagle Scouts....

Thanks John and Jim...

I'm thinking it is birch. Nice coat of lamination on it too.
My first Duke. Exceeded my expectations.

Yep, gonna carry/use it as a true pocket knife. The OAB keeps it from fitting in the sheath.

Goose,

The color in your Duke's scales are fantastic:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:. You will love the Duke for EDC; it's just the right size and weight for pocket carry. Congrat's on your BSA prize...as a good friend would say..."It's to cool for school":D;) Please give us a Gooser's point of veiw on the 500 after you have used it for awhile.

Thanks John. I agree...really like the scales.

Hey, is it just me?
Check out the engraved name (first pic in the trio) and see if you see what I think it is that I see...

I am waiting to hear what you see. I see just a few scratches.

If anyone is going to knife show or visit another BUCK bladeforum SCOUT member in Fort Worth, TX you might want to consider visiting the National Scouting Museum, there surely are some BSA BUCK knives on display. I am searching for my Eggle card. I have found my Tenderfeets and Second class pins.

Hey, Lets see some pictures of Buck Scout knives in the Photo. thread........300$s

Well Brother Goose,

It looks like they sent you the wrong knife....That one belongs to someone by the name of Marvin:eek:???...LOL. I'm not sure what you see in that photo...so go on and tell me!!!!

Goose,
Maybe, looked in MS Word at script fonts, but didn't see a match.
Hope, It's OK in the end...300$s

It looks the "f" in the last name is lower case.

Wow,

I'm glad that Brother Jimbo linked this tread again. I never saw the reply from Marvin about his thoughts on this knife. Yea I saw that "f or a F" myself. However, as the font size on the "f" is the same as the other capital leters it must be correct:thumbup:.

:D Just doing my part :D

I saw the f also but I thought it was just the script writing! It looks great!

Alright, tell him congradulations and I guess it's safe to say I know what he's getting for his gift :p.

I'm glad I stumbled onto this thread. I just spoke to Karen Cook after calling the number listed on the Yaworski website; thank you Mr. Yaworski.

I was able to order over the phone and she said the knife, with black leather sheath, will arrive in three weeks at the most. The price was $42.00 including shipping and engraving. She didn't need any official documentation from me, she said that if she couldn't trust an Eagle Scout at his word . . . well you get the idea. I agreed wholeheartedly that when an Eagle Scout says "On My Honor" you can trust he means what he says.

So thanks to everyone that has put their time and effort into making this offer known. I sincerely appreciate it.

Tim

Just thought I would bump this since I'm in the neighborhood. Perhaps some new guys will find it and get their "free" knife.

Eagle Scout June 7th 1986 San Gabriel Valley Rose Bowl Council.
Have 3 boys 6 and under. We cant wait till they can get into
Scouting and Bucks knives. To be fair my 6 and 4 year olds are already go there first Bucks.425's baby! ONLY with Dad around ;). We whittled for our first time together just the other week (I do have 271,651,and 890/650's ready for all three of them when they are older). When I became a Eagle Scout I bought a Buckmaster that was later stolen in my college years:grumpy: 8 months ago I found a Buckmaster 184 PRE- patent pending bought it and never looked back. Joe H and the Buck crew refurbished it. After that I have renewed vigor in collecting Bucks again. I am focusing my collection on Buckmasters so I hopefully will find one or two at the BCCI. On a side note I just picked up a like new 186 titanuim( had one in 87) this last weekend at the Spokane Gun show.. All I need to do is track down a clip and the stock breakdown allen wrench.:D

This is great news!
Thanks to everyone for sharing the info. I emailed Buck tonight.
I am an Eagle Scout (1978), went to Philmont in 1976, and just got back from another trip to Philmont (with my Son) last week! We hiked the North Country and it could not have gone better. Last time I took a 110 instamatic camera and I can find maybe 15 pictures today. This time I took a digital Nikon with three batteries and two SD cards and came home with over 1000 picts and about a dozen video clips - my how times have changed! Outhouses at each camp (we dug cat holes in 1976), tasty lightweight food (no more poker chip potatoes), solar powered well tanks at each camp for water, and a lot more women on the trail than I remembered. All changes for the better!

Anyway - I have been a Scoutmaster for a small troop in Indiana for 6 years now and there are now a number of boys that are very close to getting their Eagle awards. I have been fretting over what to get them, but this sounds perfect. The fact that Buck is also an American company and a Christian company makes it even better.

Philmont is actually where I got the knife bug just over a week ago - I bought a cheap linerlock for the trail and lost it only a few days out (glad I didn't take my laminated wood handled Scout knife). After getting off the trail we went to Cimmaron for the day and I saw some Defender knives in a case at a Tradin' Post store. Some looked pretty cool, so I bought a few for me and my Son. When I got home I fond out that Defender was a pretty cheap brand, so I started researching knives. I just mail ordered a Buck Summit and a Buck Adrenaline from Smoky Mountain Knife Works (great sale prices) and can't wait for them to show up. My wife thinks I am crazy and doesn't know why I should want more than one knife - then again she doesn't like the three stooges either.

I'm glad this could help, and I hope it didn't take forever to read it all considering there's a good 4 pages :D.

I try to bump this once in a while to give all of us Eagle Scouts a chance at getting a great deal from Buck.

The food at Philmont is great, and so are the women at the staff camps ;). I had a crush on one in the Ponil staffer area. She was from Canada and we actually wrote (wrote, before I was computer literate) back and forth a few times, but it took about a month to send and receive anything so that eventually died off. Got to love that jalapeno cheese with crackers:).

I ordered my knife about two weeks ago and I must say that Buck was vey responsive. They called me back after my email request and took all my info. The cost was $42.00 and they said it would take about three weeks. Two weeks later the knife arrived and it looks great. I have several Scouts getting close to earning their Eagles and this will make a great gift for them.
The only question I have is that the knife does not have a thumb stud like the photos that Buckaholic posted. Is that an add on? If so, where would I get one?
Thanks
Rob

It called a OAB (One Armed Bandit) or something like that. I don't know where they are available right now, but someone around here probably does.
