Camillus and Schrade of Old Given Short Shrift Now-A-Days

I'm afraid this old thread takes constant reviving; guessing 20 years after the demise of Imperial-Schrade the hazy fog of time is slowly erasing this grand old brand. This 34OT cut the banding strips off a load of building materials being delivered to my house today - I helped the driver unload, then gave him an Imperial USA shell-handled knife to keep on his truck. OH

Here ya go Bruce,
I just picked up this Camillus Grandaddy Barlow this week at an antique shop while Mrs. Hoovie & I were up in Vermont.
I still got to do some research on it. It has a 9 stamped on the pile side of the tang. I just had to get it when I saw it sitting there on the shelf 😉

Great find, I believe that is a model number on your tang.
Here’s a little beauty.View attachment 2684640
Very nice take on the Peanut design. OH

Not very good pictures but I snapped these today. I still need to get my step dad’s Uncle Henry out.

The fixed blade I inherited around 83 or 84. The tip was broken so I re-profiled it.

The pocket knife an older gentleman in our church gave it to me a couple of years ago because he knew I liked knives.

Decided to carry this today. A well aged Schrade I picked up from a pass around here on the porch. Even though it's worn down from years of use it still has a nice action & no blade play, not to mention the excellent edge it can take 😉

You bet! Glad you are enjoying the knife.
Ps. Great old Schrade you are carrying, the Carpenters Whittler is a fine pattern.

I thought Camillus was 2007 and Schrade was later.
Something I could google instead of cluttering a thread.
[Googled it- you're right, of course.]

I have a couple of those from a good year in NY State a while back. I think the 9 is the pattern number.

I believe it is. Here's the tang stamps on mine. Forgive the old grime, I haven't had a chance to clean it up yet.

Does anyone know what years they were manufactured? I'm thinking 1960's-1970's?

Here’s a couple that I bought about 10 years ago from a guy in our church that junks and does odd jobs. He was tearing down an old barn and found these in it.

I paid $10 each. They definitely are in rough shape but at the time I was thinking of redoing them. I haven’t done anything with them. The Camillus I decided that I’m going to leave as is even though it’s missing washers and the leather is dry rotted. Unfortunately someone took a grinder to the tang stamp before it came into my possession.
