Camillus and Schrade of Old Given Short Shrift Now-A-Days

I think my 4 line is a #33. Did Camillus have another Easy Open jack besides the #33?

I think we're talking apples and oranges here. The knife you mentioned of mine is a #70 Cattle knife. Yours is a WW2 Navy Utility knife. Pre war #33's had a long pull although I believe some of those were pressed into service early in Camillus war contract.

I may have misunderstood your question.

Here's mine

1936 to 1953 tang stamp Imperial (solid bolster) Engineers Knife.
The "Safety" can opener narrows the date to 1947 to 1953.
Bone covers. Imperial-Schrade and Camillus did not start using Delrin "until the early 1960's" (Was the 8OT introduced in '61 the first?)

The"Engineers" knife differs from "Utility"/"Scout -Camp"/"Demo" knife by having a Pen Blade instead of the punch/awl/reamer blade.
(Why they "thought" an Engineer would not need a punch/awl/reamer is above my pay grade. 🤨)

I picked this up at a local knife show, a few weeks back. It has no tang stamps, because it was a factory second. The show side of the sheepsfoot blade was not properly finished. It was factory sharpened. I doubt it’s worth much, but I didn’t pay much, just thought it was kinda unique. Other than the one flaw, it’s a typical, well built, Camillus knife. Lance IMG_8424.jpeg

Well it does say "Rough Cut" 😂
That's still an interesting find 👍

This 77OT Muskrat hasn't been out of my pocket (except for daily use) since I bought it a week ago (when I found it "new in the box"). I love how thin the blades are! I've been using it to cut fruit and it's starting to get a nice patina. I have several Schrades but this is my only Old Timer, and my only other carbon steel Schrade is a Scrimshaw (SC505, 1989). I really prefer it to my several Case Muskrats. Definitely going to have to collect a few more OTs.

I always thought it was strange that some would think of Camillus and even Schrade as just workaday knives then ooh and aah over the Premium brands of hardware companies that were actually made by one or the other. I specially like the old peachseed jigging on the older Schrades.

A couple of Schrade Walden special knives!! The pruner was rehandled by the famous Herman Williams! He used to do a nice job with his signature red Stag!!Spec Pruners 1.jpgSpec Pruners 2.jpgSpec Pruners 3.jpgSpec Pruners 4.jpgThe other knife is a robust knife, custom shielded for the Wall Rope Company!!
