Has anyone have this knife because for 70 or so bucks it looks like a good knife. it has a nice 0170-6C Carbon Steel blade, and a black micarta handle.
Looks like a good knife.

It's a very good knife. Mine came scary sharp, the steel is great, the crinkle coating is pretty tough and the sheath with its extra pocket and Kydex inlay is very practical.

WOW, yeah, thanks for the link! I've been eyeing this one for months, and at that price, I can't pass it up.

I like mine a lot. After a few passes on my Sharpmaker, it would pop hair off my arm. I really do like the steel, and the blade coating seems like it would hold up. Mine is almost perfect except for a slightly off grind near the itp. The sheath is ok; nothing special. Great knife.

I had the chance to handle the stainless version last weekend, and I feels better in my hand. (faster) It also comes with a nice kydex sheath.

Got mine from the Brown Truck yesterday. I ordered the 6" version, and it's just wonderful... The handle is great, the sheath is cute (like a tiny version of the sheath for my BK9) and it came shaving-sharp. I've got the bald spot on my arm to prove it.

I really, really like this knife.... and it was only $30. Thanks, dullone!

That is one of the best deals going on a knife bar none, and the Black Ops CQB's, nos. 3 & 4 are a couple of knives that I think more folks would have if they realized just how good a knife it is!!

Would really like to hear your impressions of it, especially it's size and how well it "fits" the hand vis a vis the 3. Keep us posted. :)

Brown brought me a 4" and a 6" yesterday and the 4" is way to small for me. It's just right for my wifes small hands but it's about a three finger grip for me.

I recently acquired a CQB-4 in a trade. It does seem small for a 4" blade, but for me it feels great in the hand. It's quick, comfortable, and precise. I'm going to make a kydex sheath for mine and wear it horizontally.

I'm too much of an amateur to feel comfortable trying walk you through the process, but if you do some searches you'll find plenty of threads that discuss the process in detail. The short version is that if you heat up kydex to around 350 F, press it tightly around a blade, and hold it that way until it cools, it will retain that shape indefinitely. Then you can rivet the sides together and attach a belt loop.

The supplies and equipment are common and inexpensive. You need an oven or heat gun, some heat-resistant foam, some kind of press (boards and clamps will work), a drill, a hammer, rivets or eyelets, and an appropriate punch to set them with. You can save yourself a lot of trouble by buying TekLok belt attachments, but you can also shape heated kydex to form your own belt loops.

Doing it really well is an art form. Doing it well enough to get a usable result is not too hard.

Knife buying is partly finding knives you like. The other part is finding fair prices and bargain shopping.

$30 instead of $70? Now you can buy two!

I haven't handled that knife myself, but I have ordered several times from Sportsman's Guide. They're definitely good people to do business with.

Best Wishes,
Bob
