Camillus had the touch, when needed! R.I.P.

I picked up a really nice advertising jack knife over the weekend. Great walk and talk too. No pics, although I can email them to someone if they wanted to post them for me.

It is a two blade jack, equal end bolsters. Main blade has a nice swedge and a long matchstriker pull. Marked 23.

Great knife, the advertising on it is a cream colored celluloid perhaps, but it is the Orr Swift Company.

Any information on this one?

Looks like this one, lifted the photo from the internet:

I can tell you they are common, usually a few on ebay at any one time. Most are used but still 100% useable. I have 4 or 5 of them, av. price is quite inexpensive. Well made knife. I like them. My guess is 1950's-early '70's but i'm sure there are others here who actually know.

Smashing knife Charlie

My only 4-line Camillus :)

I like close pics of tangs. You often see stuff you cannot see otherwise.
This is the first scan I took when I learned you could slide a button over to 800%!

Of course cameras can do it too. A pic like this can differentiate bone from stag as well!

Maybe we will see more Camilluses (Camilli?) here!
Anybody got some??

I will have to give the scanner a try sometime Charlie - I can't keep apologising for my photographs forever! :D

That old 4 line stamp is definitely one of my favorites, the font they used back then was classic!

Here is one of my favorite Camillus knives. An equal end from the Classic Cartridge Series in beautiful jigged bone. Winchester 30-30 head as shield. This knife is build like a brick outhouse. I clip blade on this knife is the best I've ever used for fishing.

Here's a couple in black.

I had a 4 line EO with a bail just like the one in the first post. I had to get rid of it. I don't know why but I was compelled to not keep it. I can't explain it to this day but every time I picked up that knife I got an uneasy feeling.

I won this unusual Camillus BSA Whittler in one of r8shell's giveaways :)

You never need to apologize for your photography, Jack! I'd much rather visit those wonderful places you travel to, than some old desktop or ummmm . . . . . . . .a kitchen table!!
;)

Nice ones, Buzz and Steve!
Great Scouty background, Jack!!

Whoops - double post! I'll have to find something to put in here!

Here's a rare one, which I have posted before:
