Camp Knife Challenge Knives Thus Far !

Tough call so far eh ! I'm really liking the Koyote knife but then again I have knives by JK ( Stomper ) and Dan Koster and know that they both produce awesome blades, then again the one by Rick looks like it could really kick ass...then again they all do....can't wait for the testing !!!!!!!!

So far I'm going to have to say, simply from a visual standpoint, Rick's knife is the top dog. I'm not saying the other knives aren't cool. I'm just saying that I'd probably trade white girl for Rick's knife. That thing is gorgeous.

I'm pretty hapy to have a knife in with this group too! I almost didn't sign up - it was a last minute decision. I'm glad I did, this is kinda fun.

I'm looking forward to a pic that has all the knives lined up side by side.

A big thanks to pitdog for the idea, and a huge thanks to Brian for signing on to review them all:thumbup:

Anyone know if Andy, James, and SDS are going to get their knives done?

I saw Andy's knife all glued up. If he hasn't already, hopefully he'll have the time to finish it soon. All it looked like it needed was to shape and finish the handle and touch up the blade. I will say, it looked like a good camp knife and I have no doubts of it being a good contender in this shootout.

OK. Here's what I got. Its my Hunter model. The steel is 01 toolsteel. The Hunter is a wide bladed knife. Its 9.5" OAL with a 5" handle. This one wears custom burlap micarta from Shadetree (Fod). Its also got red liners, a brass and red bullseye tube, and a brass mosaic pin with red filler. All pins made in house. The grind is the convex sabregrind. No flat platten involved! A leather JRE sheath is provided.

I made a camp knife thats carryable, yet able to handle common camp chores. Camp kitchen work, batonning firewood, cleaning fish, and bushcraft chores, and even self defense are a few examples. It will be able to do light chopping, but isn't intended as a chopper at all. At camp, you'd probably have a heavier tool for your chopping fun.

After spending a decade here at BF, I honestly can't recall seeing so much sweet designs and talent being put to an endeavor. Kudos to everyone!

I am partial to Magnussen's, Laconico's, and Fiddleback's, though they all look good!

Awesome. Just awesome.:thumbup::D

The "tester" is going to have a difficult ... but pleasant! ... time.

Twelve men enter, one man leaves

Wow, The fiddleback and the laconico have the most appealing designs to me, but all look fantastic. Could you imagine being the one having all the fun testing these?

I would love to own all these knives at the end. That would be a great little collection of WSS custom camp knives! That might be all the knives I'd need, at least for a while:D

Another awesome blade Andy! I love my Hunter, so I'm sure it will do well in this competition.

Mr. Andrews certainly has quite the challenge ahead of him. It is beginning to appear as though making the knives was the easy part. Although I envy Brian for getting to handle all of these, I don't envy him having to choose a winner from amongst them.

Whoa. You guys make some badass knives. I hadn't had time to look at all the entries until just now. REALLY NICE WORK GUYS!

I really like seeing Noshtero in this competition! I was lucky enough to be a part of his first passaround, and the guy is not afraid to put himself, and his work, out there.

Not to mention, his camp knife looks like a real worker!

My favorites appearance wise are Laconico's and the Fiddleback but as we all know, looks don't tell the full story. Good luck guys.

Andy....very nice. And looks great too...that burlap micarta really sets it off.

Everything looks Great

I'll be tagging along this new thread now so I don't miss out on the results :D

Wait til I get my final photos taken. That was 120 grit prefinish on the spine and tang.

I am totally, 100% willing to give rights to anyone who wants to make a calendar. I just want 2 of them :D

I'm really happy with the competition. I really got to work on designing something new, which I haven't done a lot of (ya, right) lately.
