Hi everyone, please go to post #91 ( page 5 ) to see winners.

Hi everyone
Well you may notice that when I go into a Giveaway Thread I usually say not an entry but a massive thank you to the generous person holding the giveaway.
The reason I do this is because I have been well looked after here on the Porch, in fact I would hate the task of naming ALL the people who have done so in fear that I miss a person.

Two people of late who I want to thank- these two being the latest to send me Knives, how I received my knives was in a box of knives that Paul keeps at his place - while I slowly buy knives- get them sent to Paul, and when the box gets full enough he sends it over to me, well, Mr. Paul Hilborn gifted me 5 knives in that Box as well as a Knife from Alan ( joeradza ), please see more details in my past Thread to say thank you to these fine Gentleman....

https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/i-need-to-say-massive-thanks-to-alan-and-paul.1597339/

Also, another massive thing happened to me a wee while ago, Often I have reported my still sick to the stomach feeling of when I lost my PPP 2012 Ebony TC Single Bladed Spear Point.
It traveled around the World with me- and then it was gone...I near dug up the Neigbourhood looking for that Knife.

Well a few weeks ago I was cleaning out a Cupboard in the spare room of the house- one we hardly ever use and call it Izzys room- as she gets up on her Double Bed in there everyday to look up the Drive an outside...any way this cupboard is a wee bit damp and I was having a sort through and there were a couple of jackets in there- getting almost a slight mould- keep or dryclean I asked my self- threw them on the ground as I continued..."Clunk"
I thought "what was that"? and picked up the Jacket and went through my pockets.... Oh man....here was my TC sitting in there for years lol! Wahoo!!!!!!! Just awesome!

so this Thread was coming up and I thought what was I going to put up to say thanks, so this came into my mind....

Paul sourced a brand new PPP 2012 Ebony TC to replace My lost one, I will be returning that to Paul because mine is found- and you know reader that we are talking about the very first TC's out there and very much in demand.

Three Knives up for Grabs my friend in Traditonals to say Thank you to Paul, Thank you to Alan.
I love the Knives you have gifted me and use them almost daily- Paaaatinaaaaa'd to the max lol

I have lived without my beautiful old Friend for these past years- gutted - just gutted that I lost my favourite Knife.
I have looked at the journey of this Knife, originally from America, to me, carried with such pride in new Zealand, taken on Holiday to England where I met Jack- Jack most likely met this Knife - then Jack, Sue and I walked around Sheffield for the day- awesome, The Knife then went to Scotland with me, then back to New Zealand.
So with lots, and I do mean lots of thought- I offer this Knife up as one of the Knives up for grabs, I think this Knife should continue on it's Journey, and hoepfully the new Owner can give this Great TC a new home, use it, cherish it and who knows- will then decide another journey for the Knife.

This Knife is used, and shows a slightly- only slightly untidy edge near the tip- I have since refined my Sharpening technique- but this is minimal and just pointing it out for the extreme fussy person.

A stunning Stag Scout Knife by Weidmannsheil - yup...you know when you see that name this is a darned tremendous Knife, Great Stag- Great Knife

So two real nice Knives- both completely different than each other for a wider audience perhaps?

The Competition:
A photo of our loved pets, Dog, Cat, Lizard, Birds it doesnt matter, but must be a recent one and do your best to include a Traditional Knife.
If you post a first photo of your pet and Knife- and add a second picture of a awesome outdoor wildlife/ scenic photo you will have a chance at a third secret Knife- Vintage, Stag and cool ( not saying anymore ) - this Knife is for the 2nd or 3rd or 4th etc posters of the outdoor shot :D
You must have 35+ posts in this Traditional Knife forum to enter.
Guys and Gals - Thank you SO much for all that you all collectively do here in Traditionals!
Good luck and lets run this for a couple of weeks.

edit Oh......by the way any "not an entry " will be automatically entered into the third knife draw- and if you win everyone will hat you because didnt go to the amount of trouble they did to enter lol..

The Knives ( sorry for the quick sucky cell phone photos  )
The TC - Photo makes the edge look way worse- its not like this- this is a cool TC!

Duncan, not an entry for me, but I must say that this is absolutely MEGA! You provide so much information, humor, passion, and generosity to our little corner, and this GAW would seem almost unimaginable to me if it weren't for your name being attached to it. Thank you so much, and good luck to all entrants!

I have a PPP TC so would not feel right entering, but I wanted to say how much I admire not only your generosity but the immense HEART that goes into this GAW Duncan. Your favorite knife, an original TC no less, that you just found after YEARS and you are offering it up to another member like this. It is really humbling to see. Good on you and cheers!

Thank your generosity.
I've already benefited from a giveaway of yours and received two very fine knives that I love, so I won't be participating in this giveaway.

Oh man Gev matey- Honey IS a Honey- what a great looking wee thing!
Oh guys...I have edited my first post ( see the bottom of post #1 )..

Thank you for the kind comments guys, but.......

Beware all those who do not enter - as I will put your name in the draw for the third Knife - and if you win, that night the glow from the torches from the Porch Lynch Mob- you will see from miles away- getting closer and closer....so you have no choice but to play the game.:eek:

Paul my friend, I cant....that is a Brand New 2012 PPP Ebony TC, I will be placing that in your hands my friend - and people say that I am generous, I have no comparison to you my friend.

Duncan, thank you for the chance(s)! Your giveaways are always a lot of fun, and this one is off to a great start.

This is our newest puppy, Kona Kea, a male Coton de Tulear. I imagine he is saying, "What a handsome fellow!" as he sees his own image in the mirror of my wife's Lladro case.

This was taken in Denali National Park in Alaska, at a range of about 30 yards.
I grunted at him to make him look at the camera.

Unfortunately I don't have a good recent outdoorsy photo with a traditional knife :( But I can't resist the opportunity to share some photos I haven't shared here before. The first one is one I have shared before, but that is because my dog is so hard to photograph. It is literally my first in focus picture of my dog where she is looking at the camera. I've been trying for years. But even though I've shared it before, the photo is recent:

The second photo is another recent one that I haven't shared before. It is a shot of the mountains near Pilgrim Hot Springs on the Seward Peninsula (where I grew up), in Alaska:

And another from that same trip in June, this time it is not pure outdoors, but of an old abandoned dredge near Nome, AK:

And one last one, I'll post as a thumbnail since it is four years old, is of the sunset at an archaeological field school I was at a few years back. It's just one of my favorite photos I've taken:

Duncan, what a lovely man you are :) I'm sure some of us old salts here remember you getting that knife, your sharpening mishap, and after seeing you with it in person, and having the honour to spend a day with you and Sue, I was gutted when you 'lost' it. Paul stepped in, in typically generous fashion, and then you found it, and now you are offering this special knife up as a giveaway prize. You are really something special my friend :)

Like many here, I look forward to the warmth of your posts, and consider myself blessed to be able to count you as a friend. You have been so generous to me too, giving me my very first GEC, your own favourite knife at the time, for instance, along with so many treasures over the years :)

I really hope someone loves and appreciates this special knife :) Good luck folks

Seems like it would be a good opportunity to start and ongoing give away, keep it for a while and send it on for more travels.

What a nice idea that would be :)

The question of not entering is for me a moot point since I do not have a pet! ;) :D

I did befriend and feed this hedgehog for a couple of days! :D

Thought I'd post a pic of one of the many wonderful knives you have given me Duncan :) This old Carl Schlieper is a regular hiking companion :)

Jack Black Jack Black Fine shot of the Hedgehog:thumbsup: They're getting rare here too with suburbanisation, use of strimmers and a long hot dry summer making it impossible for them to feed on worms or snails. Surprised you don't have a dog Jack, what with the walking you like to do, maybe you should get one?

Duncan, spectacular GAW mate! Always interesting and more than generous, I'll have to dig out some shots soon. Meanwhile, looking forward to others' contributions:)

Great story, Duncan and an amazing giveaway!

I don’t have any pets, but our kids adopt every bit of wildlife that lives in our yard: bugs, toads, butterflies—whatever. We also are very fond of sea life when we visit the beach. Here’s a recent picture of a heron we befriended.

And here are two of my boys with a crab the caught together:

Duncan my friend, I'm so happy that you found that long lost treasure, and what a great feeling that must've been when you discovered your TC in it's hiding place. A super nice gesture to now bestow it on someone else so that it can continue on it's journey!

I won't bother to say "not an entry" this time, but I think I can speak for those of us on "the Porch" in saying "we appreciate all you do, and you are a credit to our obsession, and we thank you sir!"

The following photos are of my wife and I last April during razor clamming season; this year's season opens tenitively in October when digging is mostly in the dark, and not photo friendly.

Someone is going to win some very nice knives, but it won't be me 'cause this is again, not an... well, you know.

Here's Jake and I enjoying some "liquid sunshine" at Olympic Nat'l Park, which is practically in my backyard.

The scale of the trees is difficult to imagine...

...without something in the photo to compare. A big storm had come through recently and knocked down quite a few trees, so firewood was not a problem, although the Nat'l Park rules forbid chain saws, so it can be a bit of a chore.

Honestly, there are much bigger trees about. This one has my Tidioute 72 stuck in it for scale; look for it about six feet above the ground:

Duncan, I would be honored to participate. This is our faithful pup Riley, who was 11 when we lost him to cancer. This photo was taken as we gathered at the veterinarian's office to see Riles off.

This is a bit of fauna at the Vienna Palace Conservatory. Took me by surprise as I was taking photos.

To complete the triptych is this beautiful Kershaw Wild Turkey.

Thanks for a generous giveaway. I got these two on the Fourth of July and all of my free time (and knife money haha) have been spent with them since.

They are half Rottweiler half border collie.

Here they are when we first brought them home:
