CAMPBELLCLANMAN'S PHOTO COMPETITION GIVEAWAY *WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Hmm looks like in your hiking photo your on the forest moon of Endor.... So that must mean, those are really some Ewoks you befriended...which must mean you been to a galaxy far far away? That's a really cool vacation  ( sorry couldn't resist, ya little buddies do remind me of Ewoks)
Truth be told, my dog Taz's breed (Brussels Griffon) was the inspiration behind the Ewoks (maybe Chewbacca too) I believe George Lucas had a few.

Yeah you definitely can see it in Taz the most. I like that he's a rescue you took in, rescue dogs can be challenging no matter the breed. My grandmother took in a little dog some kind of terrier mix, called him Spot-o, the rest of us called him ol'grouch a$$.lol I think my grandmother was the only person he maybe kinda half way liked. He wasn't mean at all but you just got the vibe he didn't like nobody. He'd growl a little or fuss a bit, but eventually he'd just huff and leave the room. Like he wished you'd go away but if you didn't he'd stalk of grumbling lol.

Reuben...recently had a massive wind storm which was blowing the g garbage bins around like balloons in the road outside.
It was a minor traffic hazard and garbage was all over the place. As I was cleaning up and shoving bins down neighbouring driveways this huge beast scalloped across the road in front of a bus and begin shuffling the garbage. Not the kind of dog to be taken lightly. A Bull Arab...generally a pigging dog or sadly used for pitting.
I used my voice of authority and told him ex exactly what I thought. He gallumphed across in front of the traffic again. So I called him ...didn't know the name at this stage. He galloofed back to me and I locked him in my yard while I attended to the clean up job.
When I finished I tentatively went in and approached him . He is a big mean looking dog.I filled up the water bowl which he went at like a camel. So I sat down calmly and he wandered over and stuck his massive head under my arm . No tag. No ID. Just a big dopey pup. Got him on a lead. Into the back of my Ute and took him to a local vet where he was microchipped as Ruben a rescued dog. I left him there and a couple of weeks later saw him out for a walk with his owners from just a few doors away. I simply co uuldnt leave him out on the road....he had no idea.

Hi everyone
Well you may notice that when I go into a Giveaway Thread I usually say not an entry but a massive thank you to the generous person holding the giveaway.
The reason I do this is because I have been well looked after here on the Porch, in fact I would hate the task of naming ALL the people who have done so in fear that I miss a person.

Two people of late who I want to thank- these two being the latest to send me Knives, how I received my knives was in a box of knives that Paul keeps at his place - while I slowly buy knives- get them sent to Paul, and when the box gets full enough he sends it over to me, well, Mr. Paul Hilborn gifted me 5 knives in that Box as well as a Knife from Alan ( joeradza ), please see more details in my past Thread to say thank you to these fine Gentleman....

https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/i-need-to-say-massive-thanks-to-alan-and-paul.1597339/

Also, another massive thing happened to me a wee while ago, Often I have reported my still sick to the stomach feeling of when I lost my PPP 2012 Ebony TC Single Bladed Spear Point.
It traveled around the World with me- and then it was gone...I near dug up the Neigbourhood looking for that Knife.

Well a few weeks ago I was cleaning out a Cupboard in the spare room of the house- one we hardly ever use and call it Izzys room- as she gets up on her Double Bed in there everyday to look up the Drive an outside...any way this cupboard is a wee bit damp and I was having a sort through and there were a couple of jackets in there- getting almost a slight mould- keep or dryclean I asked my self- threw them on the ground as I continued..."Clunk"
I thought "what was that"? and picked up the Jacket and went through my pockets.... Oh man....here was my TC sitting in there for years lol! Wahoo!!!!!!! Just awesome!

so this Thread was coming up and I thought what was I going to put up to say thanks, so this came into my mind....

Paul sourced a brand new PPP 2012 Ebony TC to replace My lost one, I will be returning that to Paul because mine is found- and you know reader that we are talking about the very first TC's out there and very much in demand.

Three Knives up for Grabs my friend in Traditonals to say Thank you to Paul, Thank you to Alan.
I love the Knives you have gifted me and use them almost daily- Paaaatinaaaaa'd to the max lol

I have lived without my beautiful old Friend for these past years- gutted - just gutted that I lost my favourite Knife.
I have looked at the journey of this Knife, originally from America, to me, carried with such pride in new Zealand, taken on Holiday to England where I met Jack- Jack most likely met this Knife - then Jack, Sue and I walked around Sheffield for the day- awesome, The Knife then went to Scotland with me, then back to New Zealand.
So with lots, and I do mean lots of thought- I offer this Knife up as one of the Knives up for grabs, I think this Knife should continue on it's Journey, and hoepfully the new Owner can give this Great TC a new home, use it, cherish it and who knows- will then decide another journey for the Knife.

This Knife is used, and shows a slightly- only slightly untidy edge near the tip- I have since refined my Sharpening technique- but this is minimal and just pointing it out for the extreme fussy person.

A stunning Stag Scout Knife by Weidmannsheil - yup...you know when you see that name this is a darned tremendous Knife, Great Stag- Great Knife

So two real nice Knives- both completely different than each other for a wider audience perhaps?

The Competition:

If you post a first photo of your pet and Knife- and add a second picture of a awesome outdoor wildlife/ scenic photo you will have a chance at a third secret Knife- Vintage, Stag and cool ( not saying anymore ) - this Knife is for the 2nd or 3rd or 4th etc posters of the outdoor shot :D

Guys and Gals - Thank you SO much for all that you all collectively do here in Traditionals!
Good luck and lets run this for a couple of weeks.

Are those "nuisance" brook trout? I've heard out West they are frowned upon, but where I'm from, they are a delicacy  YUMMY :D

Thanks for the chance. I like seeing everyone's animal pals.
Here's my good buddy Yoshikaze, as he was, sitting next to me on the couch last night when I first read this thread. He was fully lounged, showing off his long legs. I pulled out my Nifebrite 14 from my pocket and put it next to him, but he didn't seem to care for some reason.

Also, for my second photo (I'll post two actually), here's a great blue heron I spotted last weekend on a little hike. I took the photos with my phone's camera through my binoculars, which turned out surprisingly well I thought:

I'm a fan of the "binocular trick" as well ;)

I smile upon these tasty creatures. I believe these are brown trout or lake trout and they are absolutely delicious. Especially when the only other food you have is dehydrated :) I usually wrap them in some foil with a little seasoning and throw them in the camp fire. Mmmm...now I wanna go fishing :)

Edit: I stand corrected these are Brook Trout sorry

They are Brook Trout and easily distinguished from Brown trout or Lake trout, Rainbows or California Golden Trout. Brookies are native to the West whereas Brown trout are native to the East Coast. The only native Rainbow Trout originally found in the West are the famous Steelhead Trout, an anadromous species in that they are born in streams, mature in salt water, and return to rivers and streams to spawn like salmon. Steelhead are genetically identical to Rainbows, but generally grow much larger due to ocean forage.

The Rainbow trout found in Western lakes and streams these days are planted and not native. Browns in the West are all introduced.

Brook trout have a tendency to overpopulate small bodies of water and this causes them to be stunted in those conditions. Brook trout are not genetically a "trout" but are a Char, like Dolly Varden (anadromous) or Bull Trout (freshwater species genetically identical to Dollies) and Artic Grayling. Brook trout flesh tends to be pink to orange and is very good eating!

OK, there's more, but I'm done. ;)

I envy you Waverave, and I surely miss the day when I was young and fit enough to hike and fish alpine lakes, and did so often!

I'll bet you did I can tell you really know your fish and the outdoors :) I am trying to squeeze in as much as I can before I get too old and will go as long as these legs will take me.

Duncan, I'm already entered, but wanted to add a few bird pics from within spitting distance of our house.
