i know im kind of slow and dont have a ton of patience, but i read the posts on the other forums and cant figure out the issue with maxpedition in relation to strider. im thinking that i missed something, can someone explain what's going on to me? thanks

All the info you need is on the other forums and i believe both forums would prefer that it stay that way.

If you have to ask that question please do it there.
Thanks :)

yeah, i knew there was no boycott here. i was just looking to get a concise version of what's going on elsewhere without starting a big mess over there, thats why i looked here. no worries though, i found what i was looking for and have a clearer picture of the mess.

That seems a bit silly, doesn't it? Usually if people feel there is actually a good reason to boycott a company, they try to spread the word to others, so that the boycott actually has an impact and brings about a change.
Of course, if it's just some personal problem, I guess keeping it specific to a particular forum makes sense.

I can't find any information anywhere else about a boycott, and in fact can't find anything to suggest Maxpedition is the sort of company that would warrant one.

LOL, the more testosterone-laden groups are always at war with somebody. :D I'll have to go do some digging now, because usually these things are fun to watch (in a pro-wrestlers-shouting-at-the-TV-camera sort of way).

Yes you are.. :D

The best is over.... All Maxped stickers have been cut away and been thrown down the toilet. You don´t beleive, look over in the other foums. But please don´t ask here for more.

Oh man, not this soap opera again.

Well sheeyit, I must be so out of the loop... I never even knew that there was any kind of issue and/or boycott in the first place. Ah well, ignorance is bliss.

Hi All-

Mongo and I must travel in the same circles because I haven't heard of any boycotts against the fine Maxpedition folks, either. Please don't tell me they're promoting a recount of John Kerry votes or some kind of similar liberal nonsense. :D

I chased this stupid thing all over the internet just for giggles, since everyone here and elsewhere tells you to go look somewhere else when you ask whats going on. Irritates me, frankly, when I'm told to boycott something but not told why. Chased the story from here to usualsuspects.net to badlands.com or some such place. From what I can tell [edited to add: according to Strider, whose credibility has been questioned], a handful of guys including the Maxpedition guy hired a private investigator to dig up dirt on Mick Strider the knifemaker guy. These guys disseminated the dirt on Strider on the internet, including the claim that Strider was a felon, had changed is name, was separated from his wife, blah blah. The dissemination of this info is why some want to boycott Maxpedition. [Edited to add: another side of the story is found below].

Strider is no choir boy. He drops the F bomb left and right, says he had spiders in his head (crazy thoughts), and I wouldn't want him living next door to me. On the other hand, he claims to have served in a Ranger battalion and is exactly the guy you want killing people and breaking things. Looks like he makes a great knife, but they are to costy for me.

Bottom line is that I don't give a rat's hiney about any of this, and if Maxpedition makes something I like, I'm going to buy it. Already have a Fatboy, Proteus, and M5 pack. I'd buy a Strider too if I had $350 I didn't know what to do with. Over at USN, they are basically wiping their rumps with Maxpeditions because Strider is one of their guys.

Forgive me for daring to discuss the big secret, but when Strider talks about it on the internet, as he has done, its no secret.

best regards

ya, thanks powernoodle. I must admit I was curious but too lazy to go hunting for the info. I'll still buy maxpedition though & one of these days maybe I'll order a strider.

How about buying an American made product like Eagle Industries,S.P.E.C.-O.P.S.,SOE and a couple of other brands.High quality and competitive pricing.Support the USA workforce, especially if you live in this Country.Maxpedition making overpriced tactical wanna-be-gear in Taiwan is enough for me to boycott their products.

Hey, when you stop collecting Queen and Brian May albums, you can start telling the rest of us to buy American. :D

best regards

Hi powernoodle-

Thanks for the clear, concise, and simple clarification. I don't know why people were being so evasive about this non-story earlier. My sentiments are virtually identical to yours.

I own plenty of Maxpedition gear, not to mention SOE, Eagle, Blackhawk, and The Wilderness products. My decisions as a paying consumer are on what gear will do the best job...not on an allegiance to a certain company. When I needed a small pack, the Proteus got the nod.

It's not that anyone is trying to cover up any big secret or anything. As you so succinctly summarized the situation (and thank you for doing that so nicely), it's basically a personal conflict between two guys. We prefer not to have those sorts of personal conflicts played out here on bladeforums. We prefer not to have those sorts of personal attacks here.

Now that everyone has read Mr. Powernoodle's very concise summary of the situation, let's move on.
