can someone explain to me why there is a maxpedition boycott?

Ack! Now thats out of order. By the sounds of him Mick can look after himself, but you leave a mans family out of it, especially children. Very Poor show. :grumpy:

I posted this elsewhere when someone asked whats up?

I belive that the issue has to do with this Maxpedition fellow and others having tried to cripple a competitor by dragging personal information and posting it all over the internet. This was done specifically in a manner and with such content and in a pre meditated way so as to try and damage his business. - It did not work. But the actions are considered underhanded and dishonorable by many.

I knew his personal information was out there, I forgot that his family stuff was exposed. Bottom line is that it was the intent to damage the man more so than the saying of untrue things.

My Fatboy is sterile.

By the way, the lack of cross linking to other forums and all that is by explicit and specific requests and reminders by the owners and moderators of the forums.

There are so many of these little personal feuds in the knife world that I could care less about any of them any more. I used to get worked up over them, but now  . Posting someones personal info, especially about family, is totally wrong. Otherwise I don't give a fig that these parties don't like each other. Everybody has their own side to the story and there is no way to know which is true or false without being personally involved which apparently is 4 people.

WE INTERRUPT THIS PROGRAM FOR SOME LATE NEWS.........

The feud between the two legendary knifemakers was recently settled in a jousting battle at the 23rd Annual Renaissance Fair in Agoura, California.

The formal event included a pre-fight ceremony inolving the singing of neoclassic 15th century songs by both the leader of Strider(Left) and the leader of Maxpedition(right) and that day's referee(middle).....

...A drunk wench came out to witness the battle...

......In usual Renaissance fashion, the men, dressed in armor, quickly fell from their horses and the ground battle began quickly....
Sword_Fight.jpg

....After a couple of minutes, the battle ended as quickly as it began as both exhausted warriors fell to the ground in a draw match....

...Later that afternoon, both battle fatigued knifemakers in a show of respect for each other ingested unusually large quantities of beer and then became very belligerant toward guests of the event. The two knifemakers were subsequently asked to leave the festival....

People who criticize them are generally those who never served.
Torz,Most military people, outdoorsman, hunters etc, know their knives and the only thing lame is your brain. :)
I served Uncle Sam for 20 years, Mr. 6 year sand-peep.

When a man of integrity gets smeared on a public forum,i post out of anger, and the words rush out. When powernoodle posted his one-sided version
of the Badlands thread,he didn't mention who and why the ones who started
this crap are jealous of Strider's success. Why these people would circulate
stuff about Micks family, and hurt his business;reason is obvious, pull down
the leader so they can get more business for themselves.
These tactics backfired.
We shouldn't attack each other.Read the whole Badlands thread & decide
for yourself.
Where is James Mattis and Bill Martino when we need them?

Sky-

James K. Mattis (formerly of Chai Cutlery) is deceased. I can't speak to the location of Bill Martino.

~ Blue Jays ~

Thanks Blue Jays for the reply.

They have both passed away and they are badly missed. They were the
voices of reason, when things got ugly.I don't think we will ever see their
kind again.

sky, we'd be better off emulating them than just remembering their contributions.

People here heard about a boycott with no more information than that. powernoodle managed to give them a fairly detailed explanation of what was going on. If his explanation was missing details you thought were important, all you had to do was add them in, as Dave did.

What on earth would someones military service have to do with an opinion? I served and I can tell you that 99% of the guys I was with couldn't tell a good knife from a kick in the nads...

I almost chocked on my Sun Chips. :D

I buy Chris Reeves and carry a purse so I guess I shouldn't participate in this thread. ;) :foot:  :D

Class: People would do OK by themselves emulating you too, Esav.

to each his own.

I see their motives

I support Mick and Strider Knives...

I have one or two maxpedition products but do not wish anymore they need to clean up this act.

totally uncool mentioning children

TOTALLY:thumbdn:

I've read through this thread as well as the threads on USN and badlands. There are right and wrong ways of doing things. If you like Strider knives..great, if you don't great..I don't care what anybody else likes, I buy for me. How this whole thing went down was not just wrong, it was a malicious attempt to hurt someone. Would any of you like your families personal info plastered over the internet? If so we can make it happen. No one wants to name one of the primary names here so I will. Lynn Thompson has always had issues with Strider knives, stating so publicly in veiled comments in his "special projects" catalog. Maybe he sees Strider as a threat, but this should be handled in a professional manner, not trying to hurt someones family. If competition scares you, grow a pair and make a better product. Some people just can't understand HONOR and they probably never will. Those people are oxygen thieves. Mick Strider never denied his past, and he should'nt have to, it's none of our business...NONE! He that is without sin, cast the first dagger... He also provided proof of his service, for which I am grateful. This isn't about knives gentlemen, this is about honor. If you can't see that then I feel sorry for you. I like Strider knives, I like Dozier knives, I like CRK knives and so on... I just like knives. I don't like keyboard commandos. Loyalty above all....but HONOR....

Esav- I didn't mention the details because Kevin (owner of Blade Forums)

and some of his moderators have their own personal issues with Strider,

and would enjoy seeing Strider's name dragged down.Kevin's own

1 Stop Knife Shop, doesn't even carry Strider, but they carry Cold Steel

(many of their knives are made by other factories).

We should all emulate the late James Mattis & Bill Martino, that should

apply to Kevin and his moderators.

Please point out some evidence that I or any other Bladeforums moderator have made any attempt to "drag down" Mick Strider's name, if you have any evidence.

If you're wondering why Strider no longer has a forum here or why he no longer sells knives to 1SKS, read the last few days of the Strider Forum here; it's all still here for anyone to read. Maybe you can figure out what the problem was. I've never been able to....

Sky, this whole thread, and the length it's gone on, is proof that Spark has no agenda when it comes to any of the people involved in the dispute. He could shut it all down in a minute, with a word out front or behind the scenes.

Anyway, it's bad there's so much backbiting in the business, but maybe that's just human nature. These guys are forgetting what business is all about: make sales, satisfy customers, make a profit. If you can please yourself along the way, that's an element of integrity, too. But these kids' games, from guys with gray hair, just a shame, that's all.

Mostly they hurt those of us who get involved in worrying about it, more than themselves.

Kevin (owner of Blade Forums) . . . Kevin's own 1 Stop Knife Shop

Interesting. I just came from there about 5 minutes ago, having picked up a RAT-3 and RAT-7. Saw who I assume was Kevin and his wife (I'm just guessing now) and their Boston Terrier. I had no idea.

Now, back to the squabbling . . .

best regards
