This is a sad,sad tale... When one places an order on the internet with what some say is a reputable company A.K.A "Coldsteel" One would expect professional service. However, i have had nothing but a nightmare. My order as it turns out was not shipped until 12/27/02 approx 3 weeks after i placed this order with "Shoptimax.com". I have called Shoptimax.com customer service in which i am told that they send the parcel to FEDEX who then inserts this into Canadian mail. Well Canadian customs still has not received my parcel??, and customer service keeps telling me that they are looking into it. So charge my CreditCard and don't deliver any merchandise? Good business? When i ask customer service to check FEDEX with me one the line they cannot do this?when im told ill be called back it NEVER HAPPENS! To ALL Canadians i Say Buy Busse or SwampRat and dont trust Coldsteel.

Uhm, first of all, this isn't the right forum for something like this. Check "The good, the bad, the ugly".

Secondly, if I understand you correctly, you had direct business contacts with Shoptimax.com, but not with Cold Steel. Am I gettin' this right?

And could it not be that the package has been lost during transport?

Brightblade,
On the same note, I'd like a refund for some Canadian maple syrup I purchased last month that was bad... I won't deal with the supermarket I bought it at, I'll just deal with you...

Morons... they get dumber by the minute...

How in the F is this Coldsteel's fault and not "shoptimax"'s, Fedex's, or custom's ??!!!!!

1)Any company with a name that reminds me of a cotton pony would be suspect in my book before I even dealt with them!
2) have you tried tracking it down through fedex??
3) how about customs, Im sure they "lose"(steal) tons of nice things everyday.

The point i am trying to establish is that when you place an order on the COLDSTEEL website the ONLY option is to use SHOPTIMAX. Now my point is that Coldsteel has endorsed! Customer's using them, and so i was trying to illustrate the troubles ive had. Instead i get some childish retorts from people with no better use for there lives than to annoy others. A simple warning falling of deaf ears. COLDSTEEL suggest's using shoptimax. Well from the mouth on the Customer service rep @shoptimax... "orders to Canada are using a new procedure and has not been tested, or proved realiable. .....and to MelancholyMutt maybe it just the taste on your forked, sour tongue that spoils the Canadian Maple syrup!... i suggest you slither back to the hole from which you came.

In the first place, who, in their right mind, would pay those prices?

I'd almost bet that some Mounty is riding around with your shiny new CS in his pocket right now.

Brightblade- have you taken the matter up with your credit card company? Most have some form of fraud protection....

to all the gentle members of BFC. Seems we've had a recent rash of my fellow Cannucks going off on tirades. Please understand, we are in the middle of our unbearable Canadian winter. Some folks tend to develop cabin fever. Hope they snap out of it in the spring come green up:)
stoking the wood stove here 'case it's been -30 during the day and
-40 at night, up my way
I remain only slightly affected.
Oh yeah, I've delt with shoptimax, yes it took time bought a reduced price CRKT apache. Yes they fedex, and end up using DHL in Canada. by the time DHL added their brokerage fee, and collected duties and taxes I owed them more than the knife was worth. Won't deal with them anymore.Live and learn but don't rant:D

Not only is it cold, it's DARK most of the time, and on top of that we gotta pay for US goods in the Canadian peso, and don't even get me started on the GST, gun control and the mean-spirited, vindictive, petty little hypocrite and liar who masquerades as our prime minister. OK, I feel better now... gotta go out and cut something...

Brightbade, welcome to Bladeforums! You seem to have fallen into a deep snowbank ... let me help you out :)

I think you ordered from http://www.coldsteel.com/ which is a dealer running a website selling Cold Steel knives. I never touch the place, except occasionally to verify that, yes, it still takes too long to load! I recommend http://www.ltspecpro.com/ which is Cold Steel's Special Projects own website, run by the company and backed by their wish to keep their customers satisfied.

I hope your knife shows up, but don't blame Coldsteel.com for the whole problem. Unfortunately, out-of-country mail can be unreliable -- too many carriers, too little responsibility.

brightblade, welcome to the forums.

As a long-time member from the cold, dark land to the north, allow me to offer you some advice. www.coldsteel.com IS NOT Cold Steel's website! That is actually a dealer's website. Cold Steel's Special Projects division actually maintains a website, but I forget the URL.

As Torz indicated, Cold Steel makes the knives, and the www.coldsteel.com dealer, whomever they are (Shoptimax?) sells the knives. So your problem is with the DEALER, not Cold Steel. You should get your facts straight before trying to warn people about a company. In effect, you have crapped on a company that so far has shown you no reason to be mad at them.

Secondly, Melancholy Mutt has been here a lot longer than you- so watch who you flame. Your first posts here are of you crapping on a wrong company, and displaying a lot of ignorance about how to handle your situation. Yes, you were a moron. If you would take a more open posture, be nice and stick around, you'll learn alot about how to get good deals on knives and not get screwed.

Thirdly, perhaps the problem is the slowness of the mail. I know that it takes me about 10 working days to get things from the United States. Add dealys from the New Year, time at the border (almost all things I get are opened and looked at), etc., it may take a bit of time for you to get your item.

Call your credit card company and make them aware of the situation. In all likelihood, your knife will arive any day now. If not, the credit card company will protect you.

Hmmmm, it appears to me the transit time is excessive in both directions.
I purchase prints from Michael Reichmann in Toronto.
(Some outstandingly awsome photos here:
www.luminous-landscape.com
in case you are interested.)
Michael ships his prints to me in a tube via airmail. It takes two to three WEEKS for them to arrive here in Reno Nevada.
(And one shipment was opened, with one print removed and another damaged.)
Do you suppose Customs is the culprit for the wait in both directions?
Steve

Are you sure you didn't buy Mabel's syrup by accident? Some people make that mistake. Mabel's syrup is made (by Mabel) from pine sap and tastes terrible. Read the bottle carefully and make sure you are buying genuine Canadian maple syrup.:D

I've ordered plenty of Cold Steel items and had them reach me without problem of any kind. I would never be so crazy as to order regular items directly from cold steel, since they can be had for a fraction fot he price from other discount dealers. I ordered a couple of factory seconds and a replacement sheath or two over the last few years, direct from CS, and they all came to me no prob...

I agree that Brightblade(?) made a mistake in posting this without getting his facts straight and that it was posted on the wrong forum, but I don't think that throwing insults at him serves any good purpose at all. It would have been just as easy to tell him what you thought of his comments without calling him a moron or inferring that he was stupid. A little common courtesy should be shown to everyone.
