Canal Street Puppies

To be honest, I think it would be cool to have a copy of the invoice and keep it with the knife since it is a contract knife.

You are all more than welcome. When I saw a few of them and realized that a bunch of knife-nuts and friends would be getting them, it pretty much made the project worth while. I was getting quite frustrated with the wait and a couple of emails that implied that I was hiding something which just is not my nature.

I didn't order one, but I just wanted to chime in for rosconey with 2 words: Paper Cut!:D

i stand by what i said-yes it may cut the weaker of the bunch with girly hands,but i have tough skin(lol) and IT STILL CANT BE SHARPENED-lol

if you want to wait for the invioce its no biggie-either way works for me

Gus,
Implied insults are the worst because the guy does not even possess the stones to come out and say what he really means. Unfortunately I suppose there is always going to be a few rotten apples in every bunch. Please don't let this bother you. This project was worthwhile as you said and the upside is after all is said and done, well worth the wait for 99% of the total gang here.. I would like to personally thank you once again, because if not for you this project would never have got off the ground.

Many Blessings,
Anthony

still havent recieved my knives-wtf is wrong you have had them for more than enough time to send them out-

whats wrong with this picture why havent i recieved my knives yet?

i bet thats what the pm's said-lol

btw i will have mine today right?:)

....and a couple of emails that implied that I was hiding something......

Excuse ME? :eek: I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me when I read this.

Gus, it's a good thing for these gutless wonders that you're the kind of class guy who would never make their identities public. If you were, a few of us here might be forced to imply that we object to that kind of crap. Sorry, cr*p. :mad:

Send my knives after you have sent those to the guys whom you know personally and who are really chomping at the bit. I don't have a problem with that at all. And I agree with your rationale about the invoice; you can bring mine to Blade! :)

Hey Gus,

Would you send me a pic with the dimensions of the knife and let me know if you have any left over as well.

Thanx,

DM

I can see both sides. We made a special order, we thought it would be 8 weeks or so. Canal Street got a check on 9/17/06:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=424307

So now we know it took 4 months. So, if we do a special order for this forum it will take 4 months.

One thing I was surprised when we did this is Bastid did it at cost and did all the work for free. FREE, we don't get much for free anymore. It was a great way to get a new brand of knife I do not have and that we as a group picked. We got it in stag and it is limited to 45 knives.

I for one was not concerned. If you read all the posts from Bastid, it was always up front and explained what was going on. I am sorry about what Bastid had to go through. I for one really appricate it. We as a group wanted him to get a knife for free and he turned it down.

We wrote a few e-mails talking about knives, if he takes the time to talk to one member, just think how much he had to deal with. I personally want to thank Bastid for what he did and is still doing.

Bastid is having ISP issues and asked me to post the following:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am getting GigOne to post this for me since I can only access my Bell South e-mail. My ISP will not be able to address this problem until next week.
I mailed out some of the knives this morning:
GigOne (2)
Rosconney (2)
Cockroachfarm (2)
PhilL
Thomason (via The Gigster)
db
Sheathmaker
Peter78
* All of the above should have them by Wednesday, so please confirm when it is in your hands.
Two knife shipments were insured for $160 and single knife shipments were insured for $80 *
Looks like I underestimated mailing expenses since those 7 ran 45.31 in total. I appreciate the folks who tagged on a little extra when they sent their payments since they are helping me absorb those extra costs.
I will be mailing out the rest next week once I get the invoice and have a chance to make copies.
Thomason. . . .I'll try not to damage your knife in the concrete chopping test ! :D
Back to your regular programming. :D
Oops, you are doing it for below cost. My offer for lunch on me still stands. Sorry about you going into the hole on this knife offer.
I do look forward toward the knife this week. Thanks again for all of your hard work.:thumbup:
Give me a break - that's pretty plain English to ME. Where are the two sides to see on that one? :confused:
I can tell you from personal experience that Gus has better things to do than try to "hide" any shady dealings over 45 little pocket knives. Anyone who believed that a project like this would be completed satisfactorily in only 8 weeks has, well, never been in charge of a project like this. I'm not even going to bother commenting on anything else to do with these knives. I'm pissed off. :mad:
Your right, maybe there are not two sides. As far as eight weeks, here is a quote form Bastid:
Six to eight weeks guys. (And then you are going to have to give me a few days to mail them out since I really do work for a living :D.)
I am going to start addressing boxes this week. I figure if I do a few when I feel like it, I will not have to do a lot quickly when I don't feel like it. :)
Anyone who wants puppies let me know :). I am in a group who has adopted a dog park in Bastidville and we are sponsoring a dog adoption day in Nov. :D.
I really don't give a flying f* over whether it's 8 weeks, 8 months, or 8 years. My issue is with anyone who may have implied that anything Gus was doing wasn't on the level.
The "six to eight weeks" was information passed to Bastid from Canal Street. Personally, there wasn't a snowball's chance in hell Canal Street was going to meet such lofty expectations. Nice target to shoot for, but I didn't and wouldn't hold Bastid accountable for something that is/was totally out of his control.
What the vast majority of you don't realize is Bastid felt extremely bad about the delivery date pushing past the time promised by Canal Street. Again, something completely out of his control.
I've known Bastid for a little over seven years and I'm of the opinion, as are many others, he is the standard that other Knife Knuts should be held. The man will give any of you the shirt and skin off his back. Ask anyone in the knife community (makers, manufacturers, dealers, and us regular schmo's) who he is and you'll find very quickly that he's highly regarded and it doesn't get any better than Bastid !
For anyone to think or spout something different. . . . .I'll quote something that Mick Stride once said and expresses my feelings about this matter, "You can lick my sack !" :mad:
with that type of petty shit its going to be hard to find a lead guy for the next bf knife-
(the wait crap)
I'm with Holger on this, I'm pissed at anyone that gave Gus grief over this. Gus, is beyond a doubt one of finest people I've ever met, and we have met, and broken bread. I know he won't say who gave him a hard time, because your name would be Mudd to many of us here.
It would have been nice to get the knives in 8 weeks, but who really cares that it took longer? I know I don't. We got these knives at a great price, thanks to Gus. Will there be a 2007 BFC knife, who knows, but it's going to be hard to find someone to take the job.
Gus my brother, thank you, please don't let some POS make you think for a second you could have done anything different. You do have to remember that no good deed goes unpunished and that there are more horse's asses in the world than there are horses.
Same here. Gus please send me an email I’d like to help you out on the extra shipping cost.
