Dang, I missed mine today. I got home and mail had already come, I got a notifcation. So, I can pick it up at the Post Office. I am looking forward toward tomorrow.

(I e-mailed Gus to let him know that if he gave me two I would get him the knife back ASAP.)

If Gus sent me a second knife by mistake I would just ask him who to forward it on to.
Why send it back to Gus?

Good point. We work about 20 miles apart from each other. If that did happen, I am sure we could work it out, simply and quickly. I'll mail it or drive over to his work.

Can anyone post a picture of the knife???

I am still having ISP problems from home and will be darned if I am going to miss a day of work to wait on them.

Anyway, I had some time Sunday evening to get to know my new knife.

I would place the fit and finish of the one I was checking out a notch above S&M, Winchester (Blue Ridge ones) and the like. The stag is very well matched and very nicely figured on the three or 4 knives I opened. (Of the 4 I looked at the stag was exceptional and none of the four stood out as superior to the other three) Handle pins are dead flush to the stag and on mine the spring pin is peened on the mark side and domed on the pile side. The ring pins going through both bolsters are also domed.

Taking a look at the back of the little guy the finish along the backspring, liner and handle seems is about the nicest I have seen on a factory knife. Very smooth and no gaps.

I was very impressed with the nesting of the two blades (very tight in the well finished inside channel). A close fit with no rubbing. I really could not be more pleased with the looks and finish of the knife.

The master blade is flat ground with a swedge on the back. It looks to me like it will be very easy to sharpen especially with a stone. I am not much on manicure blades, but this one is forged nicely with a file on one side that seems quite aggressive.

Blade action. Not bad manually considering there are those ring pins rotating with the tangs. I have handled quite a few knives with out rings whose action is worse. ;). The master blade has a nice sharp edge. No burrs and quite sharp out of the box.

When using the rings theblade walking comes into play along with the manual twisting. It is a weird feeling but cool. (This is my first ring knife.)

Carry: I toted the knife in my pocket for a couple of hours. The knife was quite comfortable and the rings did not feel funky in my pocket. I decided the finish was too nice to not protect it a little so I decided to use one of the small Ron Ryder leather slips which fits perfectly. Canal Street exceeded my expectations on this project of ours.

Thanks for the really great write up on the knife.

Now that you wrote that write up, I know all of us are anxiously waiting at our mail boxes for delivery of the knives.

Ditto. Thanks Gus. This is my 1st ring knife, so hope it comes with directions. :D

i mentioned the stag matching in a post yesterday-they did a heck of a job-
nice snap-fit and finish is top notch no doubt-

they look like they made them for a friend not a client

If you think about it, they are making these puppies for "knife nuts". I think the possibility of them getting a repeat business will be quite high. I already mentioned we should get a whole set of stag pocket knives from them for our next "Blade Forum" knife. Gus, are you listening????

het bastid a slip pouch sounds like a good idea-other than who you mentioned anyplace else to buy one?crk maybe?

Rest of the US ones have been shipped.

Bushkill,
Lanza,
Pukkoman,
markangel,
glennbad,

I will mail kap (Canada) and freezergeezer's (UK) on Saturday along with the one (serial number 1) to Spark.

I know shaldag is moving so I am hanging on to his until things have settled.

Once everything is mailed out, I will know what the total expenditure was.
