Cannot comprehend this....

I like em, but that's a cool luxury item / accessory I can't afford, just like I can't afford to eat in fancy restaurants or drink perrier water/san pelegrino etc.

moved from general knife to gadgets & gear
no blades involved
can't post it there

bling!

people wear expensive clothes
bracelets and necklaces and rings
let them dress up however they please

i care for none of these things :)

I'd shake my head in disbelief like a lot of you but I just spent more than that at the veterinarian on two very healthy dogs that crap in my yard and shed all over. :o
Some might find that odd or a waste of money. To me it's worth it.

My reaction exactly!

 Darnit! Darnit! Darnit! They're out of stock on Metacarpals again!:grumpy:

:D

Just think you could buy a femur for less than the price of the skull bead the OP was talking about. But they usually have a waiting list for these. ;)

Well, I've paid a lot more for knives with antique ivory handles and other exotic materials when wood or micarta would have performed fine. The beads don't appeal to me but if someone likes them and can afford them, I'm not going to complain.

They probably do it for the same reason that I lifted my FX4 and put all kinds of kit on it. BECAUSE I CAN.

Im going to have my 500% cheaper slippie with regular paracord and be happier than with such expensive knife with expensive lanyard skulls... Sorry if Im offensive, but that's what how I think it is. Expensive stuff makes you worry about it, be obsessive about it... And you know it's true.

I sure hope you don't separate your shoulder patting yourself on the back and all.

I wonder how long that market will last,

Maybe 50 years from now those beads will be worth thousands:rolleyes:

You can get almost the exact same thing off of ebay for close to nothing.

Wow, you guys are frugal to say the least.
I just had my Cad. Escalade EXT fitted with a K&N cold air kit and a Magnaflow exhaust.
I know I won't get my money back from these add-ons, but they sure make me happy.

Moral of the story: Don't dis people that can, work harder/smarter so you can afford these kind of things too, if you wish.

The beads are made by Starlingear- they're produced in limited numbers and are "collectible"- and can be seen as "art objects" of a sort. There are plenty of guys who are willing to pay that much for Starlingear beads, FWIW. They have a following on other forums, and are friends/ sometimes collaborators with Strider

...by the same tacticool wanna-be's that drool over completely impractical, over-priced Busse's, Striders, and the like that they'll never use or have any use for...

Have you always been a troll or is this a new development?

Yeah, but there is a real, noticeable benefit in improved performance in your truck mods. That $175 bead doesn't make the knife cut any better.

Mind you I'm perfectly happy for folks to buy as many of those beads as they can afford---it's truly none of my business. I'm just saying that if you want 'human bone-like objects' you can get the real thing cheaper than a fake skull. And a lanyard strung with phlanges or carpals would be WAY cooler (and creepier)!

OH!! Crap, I didn't know i was arguing with a chick with a knife. Whatever you say is right, (I learned this the rough way).

I'm not into expensive beads. Of course I am also not into expensive knives. I have no problem spending a couple hundred dollars on a knife. But $800 on one seems ridiculous to me. What does this $800 custom job do for me that my other knife can't do? Is it tougher? Sharper? And if so, how much am I willing to pay for that. Hell, for the price of a lot of these custom knives I can buy a high quality production knife and a nice handgun to go with it.

But, I understand that some people really like expensive knives. I will spend big money on comic books. I am betting there are a lot of people here who would not understand that either. So...expensive beads...

Jewelery is not my thing, I didn't even have a wedding ring.

Swiss Champs and Leatherman's are much more my thing, and I'd rather buy more bright yellow Peli Cases than little skulls!

Little smiling faces, those I'd buy, but not for $175!
