I have only one 5 still never used new in box, but I want to use it . I "need" to get another one so I can use it .... :D

Most start with a "2" and go from there ~~ that is what I did --- then I turned around and sold or traded 95% of mine
for a reason or two.!**
 
Get the BK-7. It's really the best knife in that size range by anybody...at any price as far as I am concerned.

Not the "best" at batoning, but certainly thicknand sturdy to be baton-capable; with size enough to be a mini Machete for clearing brush, light enough to not become tedious (unlike the beastly heavy 2), stabby enough point stab (quite well), and slicey enough edge to still slice (and well)... It's quite possibly the most versatile "do-it-all" blades in the KaBar family... I love mine... I probably should pick up another one while they're still available..
 
9. Best at all things. I'd look around cause this time of year see them go on sale. Saw them at $65 shipped a year or two ago.

So...if your planning on spending a chunk...I say go all out and go ahead with the 9. Lots of folks kinda work up to it, the only regret is waiting so long to do so.

Sure the 5 is disco'd BUT its still on the Ka-Bar site and inventory throughout all sellers seems strong enough. AND at the price point, its not a wallet buster to impulse buy some day if you come upon an extra $20 or something to apply towards it or ya catch a coupon, sale, etc...

As for the 7...it was way low on my list as I have a 12 that's similar in length. I came upon a deal and said what the hay...made a trade...and I gotta say, its one sexy beast!

You won't go wrong whatever way you go, my vote is...jump in the deep end and grab the 9 while you have the extra cash!

As others have said, shop around, find a deal, you may end up with a bit of extra cash to snatch a 5 as well!

i would say get the bk5 first, they're pretty cheap at the moment for less than ideal reasons, and frankly they're an amazing knife. the 7 and 9 will continue to be readily available for the foreseeable future it seems (hopefully)

gotta love a good becker binge - my worst was 6 brand new beckers in about a 2 week period... two consecutive orders placed, each containing a bk4, bk5, and a bk15.

Cmon had to buy it... I like knives that are different especially ones that get hyped up over nuttin. I do like the design and sheath just wrong materials.

Before I discovered Beckers, I was researching my first big "real Knife".
I decided on 1/4"...
So I was down to the LMF or the BK2...
Well...you can figure out the rest...
Needless to say, I've yet to see an LMF in person!
 
Everyone should own a BK9, it's not called the "King" for nothing. Otherwise I would pick a 10, but out of your choices if your not feeling...like your ready for a 9 I would go for a 7.

And awesome mmo reference, Final Fantasy XI ftw! Been playing on and off since high school and still keep up the monthly subscription just in case I ever get the itch.
 
I paid for about 2 years for the same reason got a new bank card and finally let it go lol. Sadly, its shutting down in, I think, this March?

Seriously though, BK9. Its my most used knife, and is super useful at a campsite.
