Beckerhead shirt in action.

Okay, got a technical question here. Does anyone have first hand knowledge about 17HMR setting off Tannerite? Don't want to waste any.
I don't have any first hand knowledge but I say try it. If not then use a bigger gun.

Being less than knowledgeable about growlers as well, do they keep hot beverages hot or are they only for use with cold beverages? I thinking hot chocolate for sitting out in the deer/hog blind.
It's a double walled vacuum insulation thing. I'm operating under the assumption it will keep hots hot. So that is what my third one is for.

At the risk of sounding really, really ignorant, are growlers really useful for anything other than carrying beer? I've never heard of one outside of this forum and I've never seen one in person.

I'm watching the growler thread and considering getting in on it, but I don't drink much beer.

First let me just say i think the beckerhead growler is a cool idea....

That being said..... I think the beckerhead growler would be more useful for other liquids than beer. According to some brewers they ruin beer, especially the clear ones. The added oxygen is bad as well when poured into the growler. Cleanliness is another factor as cleaning soaps and detergents will alter the taste, and not cleaning them... Is just bad all around.

I know a lot of people here love em.... I just prefer to drink beer as the brewer intended it to be drunk.

Let the flaming begin LMAO

Use your needle as a guide by holding it in your fingers with the tip touching the leather and with other fingers against the edge run the needle point along the length to be stitched. That will give you a guide to follow when your stitching.

If you want I can make a short video on what I'm talking about. :)

That makes sense, Ill try it right now.

Thanks for the tip.

No flaming. But the growlers in my fridge were filled by the guy responsible for the Best Beer in the World (Kate the Great, that is). Personally. So I'm guessing that it's OK for beer to be put into dark glass growlers. As for the stainless, I'll give it a go. It's only meant to keep it cold and carbonated until you drink it.....which should be shortly after it gets into your house.

What's the translation of the etching on your 9?

One knife to rule them all, One Knife to find them,
One Knife to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

A modification of the inscription on THE RING that Bilbo Baggins found in "The Hobbit" and was central to the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Someone said the inscription would be cool on a knife, someone else said basically "no, never", so I translated the English to the Dark Speech of Sauron. Sometimes one should not challenge the Z-man with "no you can't do that" . :D:D I first read The Hobbit in 1966. It was the first non-SciFi Fantasy book I ever read.

Ill never claim to be an expert on beer, or any alcohol for that matter so if the guy responsible for the best beer in the world filled your growlers by all means enjoy them, im sure id love em right out the growlers too LOL

I just know when i was in the last little brewery and asked about filing a growler if i went and bought one and i got a 5-10 minute lecture on why growlers ruin beer... It made sense to me so i dont personally use em.

Id still like one of the beckerhead growlers.... For crown royal, long island ice teas, or other mixed drinks though :D

It should. Higher velocity and its pointed. I've done it with my .223 but never with the a .17

That's what I was kind of thinking too! 64oz Screwdrivers... OH YES PLEASE! However I do know some of the local "legendary" beers are poured into growlers. One thing I'll add though, is if you are not going to drink it right away, get some argon gas canisters, and spray it in, it doesn't take much and it doesn't change the flavor of the beer. But it forms a barrier between the oxygen and the beer. It's something I learned from my days as an oenophile's protegé.

Most places that fill growlers will clean my growler for me.

I dunno.

Yes!! 64oz screwdrivers for the win.

The brewery i was at did say if you used a dark glass one and planned to drink it the same day it wasnt really an issue.... But i wanted to take some home.. 2 days later as i was staying in a hotel out of town. If i was going to drink it the same day i would of just kept drinking there LMAO... Also if its originally bottled in a growler thats a bit different than refilling it over and over...Kind of like opening a bottle of beer, not finishing it and putting it in the fridge for the next day... The beer doesnt taste the same... But again im no expert on growlers or beer. But it all does kind of make sense to me.

many craft breweries use brown glass growlers. Certainly clear bottles are a bad idea for beer. I think you can usually bring the glass growlers back and *exchange* them, so you always get clean ones. The stainless one is another story, of course.

Another story entirely... Daizee.... I think id love a Birudashi thats ground on both sides. I love the one i got... But if it was ground the same on both sides i think id love it even MOARZ!!!

Until it Rains, ever smell a wet dog? Besides, when it isn't raining, you'll draw ticks to yourself carrying a sheath like that. Better wear a dog flea and tick collar to be safe. :D

I wear one normally anyway.

Good luck with the job hunt bigghoss, T.M.Hunt custom knives is opening up a apprenticeship. Of coarse the pay sucks, the boss is a dick, and the commute would be hell. But, just thought id offer.

Yeah, I heard that Tim guy is a douche.

Tannerite in general, I doubt it. There are tannerite targets that can be set off with .22lr or birdshot though.

This thread can lead to some great things from time to time. I was hanging with lefty last night and walked into the kitchen looking for a snack. I remembered the apple cutting I did the other day and was like... ya, apples, great snack. Then I remembered all the talk about peanut butter.... I ended up having apple slices smeared with PB. It was amazing.

Having a cinnamon raisin bagel with pb now.

I think I've decided to sell the Mystery Ranch Hot Top to fund a GoRuck. It's the only pack I can bear to part with.

Man, I missed Kelty Map 3500's in coyote for $90.

Breakfast this morning is scrambled eggs with cheese.

Later today I'll be playing hooky from work for a little bit to go watch my daughter's ballet performance. Should be cute!
