Can't top Edura 4 Wave for EDC

My automatic , reflexive backup to a missed wave is to gravity/inertial open /shake down .

It's still VERY fast .

The more you practice, the less you miss the wave .
I’m (maybe incorrectly) assuming they mean bouncing off the stop pin instead of locking, on liner/frame locks. I’ve never had that happen with any of my many waved Tri-Ad’s.

Fail to catch the pocket? That can happen, but less and less frequently with practice, as you know well.

Most of mine are Cold Steel Tri-ad locks with long , fairly heavy blades . Tend to wave pretty easy and consistent .

Nothing else is faster , IMO . Including fixed blades .

Very fair point. Actually thinking about it none of my Waved triads have bounced back either. Touché.

It’s a great all around edc. I have cut all sorts of things and have done a lot of kitchen work with mine. The wave feature has it open as soon as it is out of my pocket and is extremely convenient. Just because its design does not take the one hand tied behind your back approach to deployment does not make it a weapon. VG10 is good enough for my uses. I think the serrated version is no longer made. FRN is fine and super strong. I would like to see more colors like pink and dessert warrior though.

Thanks for all your comments. I was interested to hear what everyone had to say about a knife that had been around for a long time and how people think it stacks up against the more modern knives. Knife preference is hugely subjective and it depends on what you use it for. I don't use an EDC all day long. I do use it for occasional cutting throughout the work day. I really tried to love my 250.00 dollar knives over the endura. They are all great knives. What I really like about the waved endura is its light, slim, grippy, and in your hand in an instant when you need it. Vg10 works for me. I really don't need m4 or cruwear. Again, it's really all about personal preference and use. It just feels right for me.

It's a decent knife for the price but LMAO comparing it to Benchmade Super Freek, not even in the same league in terms of handle material, blade steel, aesthetics, and price.

Freek definitely for harder use tasks. I love that knife. In fact it's my favorite benchmade. But the Endura's way slimmer profile and super fast deployment fits better for me for EDC. The one gripe I have about the Superfreek is I find the scales to be very slippery compared to the bi directional texturing on the FRN Endura. Lots of people complain about FRN, but the grip I can get on this thing is hard to beat.

Glad you love your blade of choice. I am an Emerson fan, own quite a few. However I think the Wave feature is the dumbest gimmick ever. i just don’t understand with all the folder opening methods available why anyone would want a hook that grabs your pant pocket as it’s deployed. And yes I bought ONE Emerson folder with the Wave to try and it’s worse than I thought it would be.

In my view, it's there if you need it and it's an added option for deployment.if I'm working around people, I usually do not use the wave feature for obviousl reasons.

Why would you want to use a wave? How about because it's "fun".

Wouldn't have said it like this, but deep down I agree.

But even if I ignore the wave - and I have several Enduras - other Spydercos are very comparable in use but "better", e.g., the new Cruwear Stretch 2XL. The laminated Pakawood and older G10 versions are my favorite Enduras, BTW.

Emerson aside, considering the number of people that add a zip-tie to the Spydie hole to allow it to "wave", I think you are in the minority. :)

Very possible. There’s a ton of things popular in the world today that I don’t get. Kinda like fidget factor being an attribute. Once upon a time “fidgeting“ was considered to be a behavioral problem. Just my opinion so “Wave on”, fidget and have fun!

The Wave on the Endura is the best one for opening beer bottles.
Surprised no one has mentioned how great it is for opening beer.
IIRC the first wave-like looking thing on a folder was marketed as bottle opener . Kershaw maybe ?

Preceded Emerson but not claiming the wave function . Missed opportunity there .

Anyone else out there as impressed as I am with this one?
Not utterly impressed, but with few improvements it's a decent knife.
I'm split between the waved Endura and the Griptilian in terms of ergos, the Grip is more comfortable
but the Endura have more purchase room and slightly longer blade... Grip's blade I find better suited for heavy work.
Nothing is perfect anyway... 😂
Still, I have to mention the excellent Manix 2 XL, also solid performer, as well as bunch of other knives.
If it was a way to do it, I'd wave all my folders. Period. 🤩
5x5 Combat Solutions feature isn't bad, I find it little bit bulky and the actual wave extends slightly more for my taste but it works and I
probably won't shortened. The other "wave" - Snaggle tooth ( I like to use the "mini" ) works great with studs, I'm very happy with it.
I'm right handed but found out if you install "left" snaggle tooth, you can completely eliminate the stud on the opposite site,
and use the "lefty" tooth to open your blade with your thumb, very comfortable, at least for me.
This thread lacks pictures...
