Can't top Edura 4 Wave for EDC

I don’t currently own a waved endura, but I love my 3 enduras, pac salts and matriarch (all the same handle)

It’s a classic for a reason and hard to beat for an EDC, work knife or for self defense. I carry one often.

Here I thought my Biryukov in CPM-S125V was the bees knees...

I had a waved endura, and it's a nice knife, ut I don't like waved knives. Just a personal preference thing, I don't like the feature or the way it looks. The only one I ever liked was the DPx version, but the blade on my heat was more obtuse than the warden of shawshank so I sold it.

For actual use/utility it is difficult to beat a Spyderco. I own 7. They fit my hand, and are versatile. My Manix w and Gayle Bradley have done it all with aplomb, 9 years running. They are what I grab when I don't want to hurt my newer, nicer ones. The GB will never say die. Just wish the handle was lighter.

I've carried Enduras since 92. I have pretty much all variants except the waved ones. I don't need or use a wave. After 30 years of carry I can open and close them faster and safer than any other knife including autos.

I am carrying the K390 version. It's an amazing steel and slices pretty much as long as any steel I have tried while being easy to sharpen. My other favorites are HAP 40 and Super Blue versions . V Toku is a great steel too though not super lasting wear resistance wise. It sharpens as easy as any steel I've tried though. Pretty much the same can be said for the Super Blue version. I still wait for a Cruwear version.
I've already been using the Police 4 in K390 for a while now and when I do get around to picking up an Endura 4 it too will more than likely be in K390 steel.

Not utterly impressed, but with few improvements it's a decent knife.
I'm split between the waved Endura and the Griptilian in terms of ergos, the Grip is more comfortable
but the Endura have more purchase room and slightly longer blade... Grip's blade I find better suited for heavy work.
Nothing is perfect anyway... 😂
Still, I have to mention the excellent Manix 2 XL, also solid performer, as well as bunch of other knives.
If it was a way to do it, I'd wave all my folders. Period. 🤩
5x5 Combat Solutions feature isn't bad, I find it little bit bulky and the actual wave extends slightly more for my taste but it works and I
probably won't shortened. The other "wave" - Snaggle tooth ( I like to use the "mini" ) works great with studs, I'm very happy with it.
I'm right handed but found out if you install "left" snaggle tooth, you can completely eliminate the stud on the opposite site,
and use the "lefty" tooth to open your blade with your thumb, very comfortable, at least for me.
This thread lacks pictures...

Number One Wave Guy very impressive.

I like my Endura (stock orange VG10). First nice folder I bought. It gets trash duty every week as needed. One year sent it to Spyderco for a resharpen. No charge. Little big for daily carry for me. Delica suites me better. I like the FRN scales and VG10 is just fine. I do own a few mid-tech fixed blades witch get called to duty if I am going out into the woods.

I have had two of them over the years, but don't hang onto them for some reason. I think its the thick saber grind on them. I wish they'd do a run of FFG on them. I still have the Delica version, but it just doesn't look right proportionally due to have a similar size hook and much shorter blade. That one doesn't get carried at all either. Maybe one day I should send it out for a regrind.

Cowabunga ! Catch the wave . :thumbsup:

I have both the factory wave and a standard Endura (added G10 scales, Wise Men Fang and Signet). While the full flat grind does part material better in long cuts, the saber grind has never failed to perform any task. The Endura as a design is one of my favorites, but I do get more consistent deployment by pairing the wave with a retention ring and drawing into a reverse grip. Since the Cold Steel thumbplate has come into discussion, I have had mixed results, depending greatly on clip tension, blade shape, and pocket design.

Totally understandable, it's a learning curve when using the CS plates, but they will work flawlessly at the end.
The retention ring is solid option for drawing wave blade, I personally like low profile,
that's why I'm usually using short paracord fobs, that I grasp with my pinky and ring finger to pull
out of my pocket. It gives me three finger grip immediately and it's fine if you're on the rush,
it needs adjustment, but it can be done later, I'm sure you got the idea if you're using wave.

Glad you love your blade of choice. I am an Emerson fan, own quite a few. However I think the Wave feature is the dumbest gimmick ever. i just don’t understand with all the folder opening methods available why anyone would want a hook that grabs your pant pocket as it’s deployed. And yes I bought ONE Emerson folder with the Wave to try and it’s worse than I thought it would be.

You sir are wrong ! and need to be educated.

See the wave is the best thing invented since sliced bread and you really need to learn and know that. I have snaggle toothed (another great wave product) my BM Presidio (looks real neat and deploys nicely.)

The Enduara wave is just about fool proof when it comes to deployment and as someone pointed out it works as a bottle opener. I just learn wonderful new things in this forum everyday. I will have to open my next beer bottle with it.

I personally don't like waved knives at all.

I am pretty active at work and play, and have had my pocket clip catch on things, which has yanked my folder out of my pocket many times.

The last thing I want is a blade deploying when this happens.

Finally a rational explanation of why a waved knife may not be for him/her. I consider pocket clips to be too handy and convenient to write off even though I like the looks and handle feel of knives without them. Pocket clips are not fool proof though and as pointed can catch onto stuff as well as ruin any hopes of concealment ( a law in my parts requires concealment by the way.) I don't EDC outside using a pocket clip.

If your pocket clip gets snagged many times maybe consider pocket carry without using the clip or using a pouch. If using a clip is a must to you despite being frequently exposed to situations that snag your clip and pull your knife out of your pocket then a waved knife is not for you.

Yes, all CS knives with the opening plate can be waved without any mods,
some with minimal intervention as the ProLite on the below picture, Spartan, Rajah, Black Talon, Talwar, Espada.

Is that an AUS8 Espada, with the old blade shape?
