I've always found it somewhat bizarre that Peter Wyngarde's character 'Jason King' was the basis for the en masse decision of 70's parents to name their male offspring 'Jason', therby re-popularising a rather obscure christian name![]()
They're probably defending their nests at breeding time? The Hooded Crows we have here are really particular about defending nests in May/June and will swoop down if you lingerTheir beaks and claws are no joke
On the other hand, being in Aus...that Magpie might just be an individual nutter who's been at the Grog
Magpies here are not pleasant birds, they kill songbirds and rob nests of eggs and chicks remorselessly- I try to 'deter' them whenever possible![]()
Finally! I remembered the name of it...Comic Strip Presents ..Detectives on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown ...most amusing..
The Aussie Maggy is defending it's nest and young around September.
Either that or it's miffed because it doesn't rank in the top 30 most dangerous Aus wildlife. That said , when you hit the traffic on pushy riding to work and the helmet attack starts ....dayynger!!
interestingly these magpie have a wonderfully beautiful lilting warbling musical song.
