Stay safe Joshua

It's the sheer cheek of them, attacking something several times bigger than themselves, that p's me off most! Ever since the rise of YouTube, it seems like everything thinks it's a darned Honey Badger! o_O :p  I was tempted to punch a large gull which stole my doughnut the other year - thought it might not go down well though!  :D
My Chihuahua is always charging dogs bigger than she is (of course, ALL dogs are bigger than she). I restrain her with a leash or pick her up if we are walking. And in the back yard a tall fence keeps her from her much bigger "prey"!

View attachment 978911 I hope everyone on the Gulf coast stays safe with the upcoming storm. We’ve been pretty lucky on the East coast of Florida so far this year. Finished up my new work bench this weekend. My old one was in pretty rough shape.
Yep, hurricanes can be scary. Last year we only lost a fence and a back-porch ceiling fan, and lost power for 24 hours. Got off light. (No pun intended). Harvey devastated Rockport and other towns just north of us.
Good looking work bench! Wish I was handy--didn't inherit that from my father.

Yea the last few years have be brutal for everyone. Between the hurricanes, fires and volancos America needs a break. Lol

The "beauty" of working on a big project that's on a tight schedule: I'm at work ~12 hours before a (probable) hurricane impacts my area in some way. It appears that it'll hit far enough east of us that it will just be a bit of rain and wind, and I probably won't be off of work tomorrow. I do enjoy the weather as a hurricane gets within a couple hundred miles of the coast, though. Most of the time, the humidity is a bit lower (as, I assume, it's all being pulled into the storm) and there's a decent breeze.

Stay safe, everyone.

You wouldn't want to go viral punching a seagull.
I wonder what the little prince was given for a gun on his first grouse-hunt.

Perhaps a discreetly swung cane! ;) They've actually been culling them here this year, things have been so bad in some places

Nice work

I've known blokes a bit like that! :D

In my younger days I spent countless hours watching Seinfeld... I made a checklist and I ended up getting every single episode recorded on VHS tape. Then using (2) VCR's I edited out all of the commercials so I had them all in chronological order / commercial free... it was a grueling process that took many months and 12 or 13 VHS tapes. Imagine my angst when they released them all on DVD in high definition  So needless to say, I have a bottomless pit of Seinfeld scenes buried in my brain... hence all of the short YouTube clips I may reference amongst various Porch discussions. Jack Black being attacked by Magpies brought this scene to mind :D

Thanks for that Kevin! :D There's a brief account of my avian assault here: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...eading-for-the-coast-more-at-post-41.1214977/

Seinfeld was my dad's favorite show, and one of my favorites, as well. I always enjoyed watching it with him, and now that he's no longer with us, watching it brings back great memories for me. A couple months back, I re-watched the entire series on Hulu. :D

It's one of the few modern shows that make me laugh! Otherwise I enjoy mostly shows from the '60s. But Seinfeld is always funny, even if I've seen the episode a dozen times. The Marine Biologist is my favorite. And the candy lineup from the Twix episode!

I went off Seinfeld a few times, but it always recovered. Most shows become a self-caricature and that's it.

The largest, harshest, most annoying sea gull ever was on the east coast of New Zealand..
I say gull but marine vulture is a better description. It alighted with an entire wrapped up serve of fush n chups in its webbed talons...Probably a Haasts Gull ...related to the extinct Haasts Eagle....the Kiwis never stop bragging about that one...worlds largest ever eagle blah blah big enough to eat a man blah blah.....
As for the radgy honey badger and it's tenacious outlook... here in Australia we have the "less is more" creatures. Our largest land based carnivores excluding the introduced dog known as the Dingo or Warrigal are reptiles.
At the small end are a selection of desert dwelling mouse sized marsupials that scamper about at night taking on prey many times larger and more deadly e.g. scorpions and spiders etc . Sandstone Cobbler, Kultarr, Narrow nosed Planigale, The Fat Tailed Dunnart and the fiercesome Kowari to name but a few are no bigger than small rats but pound for pound they are equal in voraciousness and ferocity to ooh say Siberian Tigers....that plus they're heaps tougher and cooler than any New Zealand marsupial....or bird. ;):D

Mockingbirds can get mighty territorial.

They don't look so dangerous! :D But people still kill them!  ;)

You have lots of wild mental stuff down under mate! :D Polecats (all types) will have a go at anything. I don't think that's bravery, I think it's because of their small brains! A bit like the officer class of the British Empire! "Don't worry lads, the 20,000 Zulus charging at us are sure to turn-tail when they see the quality of the gold-braiding on my tunic!" :D

So it is hurricane season here. We've got out first tropical storm coming:

School is cancelled tomorrow due to the likelihood of tropical storm winds and a good amount of rain.

Listen, you guys that get all that rain, ya think you could bottle up some it and ship over here to Central Texas? We've got a heck of a drought going on, and we'd appreciate it. :(
