"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

On the monday following the launch and sudden disapearance of the Dead skunk 14, I expressed my disappointment of seeing them going so fast (# that so few had been made) and following that, was kindly contacted by Barrett @btb, who had foreseen such a case and had got a pair just in case he could help someone. By luck it was me! This could have been just an helping hand, except he never accepted to be refunded of his expenses.
Today, at lunchtime I checked under my door mat to find a very well protected parcel - soft as a cushion in fact:) - with a DS inside!
Usually I prefer more "noble" materials or micarta, and so far I have only two acrylic handled knives, the Tortoise shell Beer Scout and a hazy blue Parapluie. But the Dead Skunk attracted me and is really something else, I showed it to a lot of persons and all loved it, even those with no interest in knives. Plus the 14 pattern is so slim and cute.
I sincerely thank you very much Barrett, this makes my my day (and much more) and won't be forgotten.
And to GEC, please let us have more of those fancy acrylic, DS, Patriot, Tiger Eye, etc. The next Oyster Pearl 85 is already on my list - hopefully there will be a plentiful batch.;)
Now, let's keep on with round tubes to celebrate! :D

Glad it made it there safe and sound, JP! I last checked the tracking/customs no. on Friday or Saturday and saw that it was in France, so I figured it couldn't be too much longer. Hope you enjoy it!

Postal tracking is really an inexact science! I could track the parcel to your city on the French Post site from start till the end, while USPS said just it was in preparation. I could track your parcel from start till the end on USPS site while the French site said it was unknown until this morning warning me they would deliver it!
It is never twice the same! Well, most important is the parcel arrived safely, did even not stay in customs, just sat for the week end. I am totally fond of the little Un', wow, what an eye-catcher! The 25 will gain some rest now!

@chisumr lives on Okinawa, and some severe storming has passed over that area!! His conversation box is full. If he or anyone has news, please post it!!

"Hi Ron,
I heard that Okinawa suffered some severe storms, and just wanted to check that all was well in your camp!!
Let us know please!!
Charlie"

In '67 I spent sometime in North Hatley , Quebec, where my big sister lived then. One summer day on the road back from Sherbrooke, she rode over a DS... I guess our garments are still buried and her 304 estate had to be driven with opened windows even in autumn ;) I still remember the smell oooh that smell!

A French skunk, but not dead:

GT I used to love that Pepé Le Pew cartoon.

I think this is a good time to post this. I had bought another Blue Alox Farmer after I sold the one I had to you then you sent mine back to me. That left me with two so waverave waverave mentioned in a thread he wanted one so I sent him the one I bought and kept my original you returned to me. Darren ( waverave waverave ) wanted to send me something in return and asked me who was my favorite cartoon character. Well come to find out he is quite the artist and he sent me a Buffalo nickel money clip and this custom lunch bag.

Thanks for sharing that cool story, Randy!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Both you and Darren are to be commended for your generosity and thoughtfulness; Darren has real talent with the sketches!!:thumbsup::) I saw in another thread that Darren considered his Farmer from you his most special knife - that's quite a testimonial!
