"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Thanks Rick, I'm thrilled. I was so excited I didn't read the above til just now.

My .02. I was homeless for a while when I was 19. Had a job, but it didn't pay enough. Slept on the beach most nights (gotta love San Diego). I generally give everyone the benefit of the doubt and any help I can. I also have been helped on MC trips, with wrenching, with a meal when I needed it, a bed. People are good. That said, I agree. I'd be keeping an eye open. But I wouldn't be worried about it.

Got back from the doctor...my daughter used on Old Timer (120T) to open the envelope.

Yep, gonna be a LOT of pink in my house. ;)

VERY cool! I've got two girls (9 and 3).* It's a ball being daddy to 'em!

* And a boy sandwiched in the middle. :)

So, two knife knuts walk into a bar (one of them is you). Nope, not a joke. Just wondering what you'd order. What's your drink of choice?

Me, I'd likely order a decent scotch (Johnny Walker black) with a little ice.

Who's got the next round, guys!?

What time of the day is it? Are we eating, have I eaten before? It does make alot of difference to me...
Nice topic though ;)
Oooohhhh I had missed Dan's post...congratulations!!!!!

One, bourban, one scotch, and one beer. Seriously though, if it's a bar then I want a bottle of Budweiser. At home I like single malt scotch, particularly Macallan 12 year, or maybe a Maker's Mark and Coke. I'm not much for wine but there is a local winery here that makes a Port wine they call Crimson Moon. Good stuff.

Hard cider, preferably Angry Orchard crisp apple, but I will settle for my old go to, Woodchuck amber. The hard stuff is for cold nights, never really got a taste for beer, but will gladly take one on a hot day.

If I'm in a bar I'd probably just order a Jack and Coke. In the comforts of my own home however, I like to drink Macallan 12 or Aberlour 12 in a Glencairn glass.

Neither am I. But I do like brandy, specifically cognac. Did you know that brandy is short for brandywine, derived from the Dutch word brandewijn which translates into burnt wine? I haven't yet bought a bottle for myself, but am intoxicated with the ambrosia that is Hennessy XO.

I took a vacation to central florida with my girl last week. My brother made his way up from Miami for a few days too. One afternoon we went to an air show. I took about 800 pics and a few HD videos. I haven't had a chance to process any of them but I figured I would post a few low res/quality shots. I thought maybe some of you old timers might like them :)

Congratulations Dan

Nice pictures Kevin. I've just watched a video on Youtube about the history of the Tondelayo

Thank you Carl! I think the coolest part was Patty Wagstaff in her Extra 300s. I got a ton of amazing pictures for a change. I can't wait to get to them.

Thanks for all the congrats guys! I'm stoked!

As to the question of drink. I only drink beer now. But I was a bourbon drinker. A really, really good one. Hence, I stick to a few beers now.

Congrats Dan!!! great news.

Been so distant on here the past few weeks and been bummed I couldn't check in as much as I'd like. Moved into the house we bought and been working a lot, hopefully next weekend I am going vintage knife hunting to treat myself to a couple oldies. Hope all is well with everyone!

Nice pics Kevin :)
As for the drink thing...well once more I'm not surprised to see how "far" I am on this
On a meal, I'd have wine or beer. Recently, I entered the world of "quality" beer (hey, traditions are not just about knives!) so it's getting harder and harder for me to drink "production" beers. As for knives...wallet cries :D
Outside a meal, I'd have a Martini before dinner, or a Stinger after dinner.
As a "late night" drink, and especially in winter, I appreciate cognac and Armagnac more than whisky/bourbon/scotch.
And, of course, myrtle liqueur...Sardinian taste :D
