"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

My new wheels, fell into an absolute great deal on this one. Only a little bit of work needed. Not too traditional, but I am a big guy. Only full size trucks from here on out till the day I make the final trip west. 2003 Chevrolet Silverado single cab 4WD. Was looking for 2WD, but this deal was too good to pass up. Hopefully it will be ready to drive by the time I am.

Nice truck, Dan!

But are ya real sure I can't interest you in a nice smart car? They get great gas milage!:D

Carl.

Carl,

I'm right there with you, but I have to tell you, you may change your outlook when you get in one of these new high MPG cars. I drive either a mach 1 mustang with a 32 valve DOHC v8 or a hummer h3t with an LH8 GM engine. I'm lucky to get 20mpg and maybe 26 in the mustang on 95.

Since my girlfriend had her car totalled she got a 2012 Honda accord special addition (nothing special just one step above base) and we drove it to miami. 38 MPG highway and 32 MPG city. It has plenty of get up, handles well and its actually a real nice car for her.

I myself at least have a new appreciation for good MPG. Sure wish I could go 600 miles very comfortably on a small tank of gas.

Kevin :)

I like a decent mph car to daily in...still looking for something to drain the saudi oil fields! Was a day late on almost buying a 59 buick, wish I got it. 50 had some hot cars!!!

Nice pickup. :)
LOVE those old cars! My favorites were 60's through mid 70's Muscle Cars, but I like most classics.
I guess you might say my latest DD is a classic in a left handed way since they don't make them anymore. 01 Oldsmobile Aurora with around 55K original miles. :D

I took a bit of time from the shop and went to the local car show yesterday.
The blue car is my 69 Super Bee clone and the Black 1966 Satellite convert was a gift to my eldest stepson about 5 years ago.

Now those are hot cars! really love the super bee clone and that satellite is pure class! You have amazing taste in knives and just as good taste in cars.

Thanks for sharing those pics. :)

Thanks guys! The best part of the day was spending time with my Son, Daughter-in-law and grandkids:thumbup::D

WOW Ken! "Very" NICE! I'd love to hear a little blip about the power train in those two.

Bruce,

The 66 Satellite has the original 273 c.i.d. engine and 904 TorqueFlite transmission. I, along with the machine shop rebuilt the 273 when I purchased the car in 1994. It has to be one of the nicest running naturally aspirated engines I have ever owned. My 69 has a 383 that I built following the same basic recipe that Chrysler used when building the Road Runner/RT/Super Bee engines. Mild by hot rodder's thinking today, maybe 350 to 360 HP. The 383 is coupled to a 727 TorqueFlite and .391 Sure-grip 8 3/4 rear end. For a heavy car , this one is a blast to drive!

Thanks for the info Ken. I have actually driven a 68 Road Runner that belonged to my older brother. You're right, it was a BLAST to drive. He also had a GTX with a 413 in it. That was a fun car to drive as well. Not sure if the 413 was original to the car though. Never saw another like it.
72 Cuda' 340 was mine. Not so fast off the line, but the top end was unreal. 150 +. At least that's what the speedometer said. I miss those cars, but then again, gas was between 50 and 75 cents per gallon of high octane back then. ;)
Remember Vanuys BLVD? That's where I was in the mid 70's. Lots of fun. :D
