"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Thank you Kevin! In a couple of hours, I gonna start off for a week :)

I gonna post some pics right here!

Kind regards
Andi

I will check back in and look forward to seeing them. Rest and relax and have a great time my friend :)

Thanks, Sir!

It´s about 10:00 o'clock in the evening here. We are going to leave in about six hours... so it´s time to go to bed :)

Hey Traditional Guys! I have to thank you. In this Forum, I came to my senses. I found the PERFECT EDC, a traditional folder. If only I considered one earlier on, I would have saved LOTS of money!!

Here are some pics of Croatia and some of the alps during a rainy traveling back ;)

I hope you enjoy the pics!

Andi! Welcome back, and thanks for the pics!

Beautiful! The last shot is especially eye catching!

How was the trip?

Kevin,

thanks for the welcome back :) The trip was great. The sea was amazing (once a year in saltwater is something special for me). Croatian food is of great taste (and nice spicey, too). Unfortunately the last day was of rain, but noone can have everything. All in all it was a great week. I hope getting to Croatia next year again. Great country. We had a small cabin and that was alright.

The last shot was taken on the highway between Villach and Salzburg (both Austria). There was some bad weather and some snow above 1,500 metres.

Here´s another one of an old castle ruin near Salzburg (Austria)... I hope it´s visible on the left side of pic (the raindrops aren´t my fault :p )

Looks like a great vacation, Andi! Welcome back. Thanks for the pics!

Andi,
welcome back, and thanks for the pictures :) I will visit Croatia sooner or later.
I know you were probably willing to have sunny days all through the trip...yet in my journeys around the world I have found that, sometimes, the rain allows you to get a different view on the place you are visiting...so maybe one rainy day was a good deal :)

Fausto

Fausto... you´re completelly right. The whole place looks different, when it´s wet and the sky is dark and grey.

Very nice trip you had Andi. Did you drive there then? How long does it take from yours?

Thanks, Will

Hi Will! :)

Yes, we drove there. It was roundabout 550 km. It took roundabout six hours to go there. So it´s not that kind of distance. We made some breaks for eating and walking around a little. (You know, in an VW Polo isn´t that much space ;) )

Mercy! snow there already? It was 105°F here today.
People from a land of deserts look at rain and snow somewhat differently than folks from other realms.

You can always ID a native Southern Californian apart from the immigrants from Eastern climes. We natives love rain because So Cal gets so little of it.

Hi Frank!

Yes... snow. ;) It´s not unusual for the alps that in the beginning of September there´s snow already. The last few days some parts of Bavaria had a temperature around 0° Celsius (= 32° Fahrenheit).
I believe, that the climatic condition in Southern California is nearly desert-like, that´s what a lot of people would like to get here. 300 sunny days per year with nearly no rain. Imo rain is always good (as well as the natives from So Cal would say).
