"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

This reminds me of the last sub I was on in that “ducks” was unofficially observed at precisely 22:22:22 every night with a “quack quack quack quack quack”. Random I know, but it’s the small things like this that make long stretches underwater tolerable.
Very random* Mate very random...😆✌🏼🤙

*the word random has other meanings in Australia
I guess it does make more sense that way but we do drive on the right side of the road .

Harry
It makes no sense at all Harry....but jeeez I'd love to give it a go....😜

Not just Australia apparently

I don't mind people re-purposing the odd word, it has a long history - unlike saying 'So...' before every sentence, which irritates the beejeezuz out of me! :grumble: :grumble: :grumble:

Just a heads-up, Tomorrow is Twosday: 2/22/22. If you write the date European-style, it's also a palindrome: 22/02/2022.
Now I wish I had two GEC #22s to carry.
Yes! I've only got one, but I'm oiling the joints and have it out to carry tomorrow.

I still think GEC should make a two-blade spear Magnum this year for a "222222" tang stamp.
Thanks for the heads-up, Rachel! :):thumbsup::cool: I noticed this yesterday when I was updating a schedule for the class I'm teaching.
Always gratifying to see people here having fun with numbers! 🤓
I think the only time I'd try to hunt down a GEC knife is if the tang stamp was interesting to me (important-to-me date or house number or math oddity, e.g. palindrome, prime, etc.).

Here's part of an email I sent to my class before 6am this morning:
Wouldn’t it be fun to start class today 7 minutes and 38 seconds early today?
That would be starting MATH 222 at 2:22:22pm on 2/22/22 (remember that Motions Handout 2 is due today).

And it's Tues-day!

Touché, and thanks for the English lesson. ;) Perhaps unusual or strange would have been more appropriate.

USPS...sigh.

I have a package coming to me from Brentwood, just 20 miles down the freeway. Straight shot. Should be a quick and easy delivery, a day tops. Went out on Monday. Checked the USPS website to check on its progress, and it's scheduled for Friday.

Package went from Brentwood to Stockton to Sacramento. It's in San Francisco now. Probably headed to Oakland tomorrow. Package went in a giant circle around me.

I had a package come from North Carolina last week, and it got here in two days. 2 days for a package that has to cross the continent, but 4 days for a package that's in the same county?

It's almost like it needs to hit the SanFrancisco hub to get headed in the right direction.

That's a sound theory, and I think it certainly holds true for international packages. But I've had packages from LA bypass SF and hit Oakland before being sent my way. I'm in awe at the gyrations involved in delivering the mail.
Last week a package of mine went from Arizona to Washington D.C., where it flipped a U-turn and went to Kansas City, where it flipped another U-turn and came to me. It passed me twice😛

I think it's an approximation of concentric circles. Zeroing in. Shark mail
