"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

The worst for me was Peter Hook he didnt even play much bass leaving it to his son,it was wrong on every level (it broke my heart).
I would rather have seen a Joy Division tribute band.

But when I saw the stooges, the MC5 and The Gang of Four at ATP that was some of the most exciting, heartfelt gigs in years.
I forgot I was on crutches and tried to pogo, the brilliant event staff grabbed hold of me and stopped me falling,
I was right at the front I had passed my crutches over to them and was using the weight of the crowd behind me and leaning on the barrier to stay up.

A few months ago before my op I gad seen the MC5 dkt at a small venue where only about 20 people tuned up.
It was outstanding being so close I could touch Wayne as he played Kick out the Jams and all, still gives me shivers.
After I talked to Wayne and Dennis and I got all the band to sign a MC5 tee shirt for me.
At ATP I shouted out hey Machine gun (Dennis) how's it going.
He threw his drumsticks to me,I nearly went over reaching and again one of the staff grabbed me as I was going down, grabbed the drumstick that some one else had caught as I fell and gave it to me.
Wow 😲 The Motor City 5. I hadn't thought of them for years. You sent me on an internet search. Looks like Dennis Thompson and Wayne Kramer are the only surviving original members. They were a sensation in Detroit in the late 60's/early 70's.

Wow did you see them then.

My 2 Dutch friends (brothers) came back on a plane to Holland after the gig and where sitting next to and chatting to John Sinclair.

There's revolution in the air 😅

Just rum for me, please. 😸😸😸
I see what you did there, just rum for me as well please.😁

My grandad had hollow legs when drinking rum,he was Royal Navy WW2

Churchill took an earlier quotation and improved upon it.
Churchill is said to have used the phrase in 1913, when he was First Lord of the Admiralty. According to 'an ear-witness', he was having trouble with some of his admirals at a strategy meeting.
One of them accused him of having impugned the traditions of the Royal Navy, provoking the reply: 'And what are they? They are rum, sodomy and the lash'.

Did you notice there's a Case knife on the cover? Saw them at the Bataclan when only music was dangerous.

It was so hard to get hold of that when I was in Germany, that and Patty Smith as the German shops did zero punk or alternative music.

My mate and I kept badgering one record shop in the end he went to Amsterdam and bought a load of records for us,still got them with the DM price tag.

I cant find my drumsticks,I have Scott Asheton as well and Lemmys plectrum and other stuff.

Cant find my set list, and photo passes either but found some photos of them.

Mark E smiths signature,The Captains and others I have Johnny rottens as well he wrote a short note for me.

Theres a lot of history here and a lot of storys.

I have a photo of the Captain and me when he was dressed as a school girl (not very convincing) at one gig 🤣

I just framed my original 1979 motorcycle grand prix poster,I found it while looking for the drumsticks.
My younger brother who passed away gave it to me when we cleared my mothers house.
Love the poster and it will serve as a memory for them as well.
I just realised its based on the Marlboro cigarette pack of the time, obvious really if you smoke,I don’t. 😆

To keep a bit on topic my Wenger SI with the nicest bread ever,Spain I think.

Just a heads-up, Tomorrow is Twosday: 2/22/22. If you write the date European-style, it's also a palindrome: 22/02/2022.
This reminds me of the last sub I was on in that “ducks” was unofficially observed at precisely 22:22:22 every night with a “quack quack quack quack quack”. Random I know, but it’s the small things like this that make long stretches underwater tolerable.
