Good stuff! :D

If things go wrong, I've got a couple of decent tents I can send at short notice :p

And I can always get more, because Now is the season of the discount tents! :p

I thought it was the winter of our discount tent?

In any case, nice one!!! (And good setup!):thumbup:

You're quite right Elliott, actually just came to me (though I once saw it used on an advertising slogan for a camping shop)! :D

During the 1970's, when there were were a lot of industrial strikes and power-cuts over here (it was actually a pretty fun time to be a kid - candles, open fires, and books!), an old girlfriend told me her American relatives would regularly send food parcels because they'd seen, on the TV news, how people were starving to death in the streets, etc. English food was pretty bad at the time (pause for heckling and abuse), and they kind of liked the Hershey bars and the Oreo cookies, so they just kept quiet and accepted them with good grace! :D

You mean we can stop handing out chocolate and stockings now? Now you tell us...

Anyone like any "Traditional" themed Christmas movies this time of year? Everyone likes Christmas Vacation and Elf. What about the Christmas Story, the Alastair Sim Christmas Carol/Scrooge (better known as Scrooge across the pond, I'm guessing our UK pals have seen this one a hundred times). Another one going old school, if you will, is the Homecoming. It was basically the pilot episode of the Waltons tv show. I never liked the tv show, but this pilot episode was about the father getting home from work for Christmas, to put it lightly. The actors that played the parents were different, I wish they would have stuck with them, but I guess they weren't that Hollywood for the networks. Anyway, I'm sure this one is available on Net Flix, I had gotten the DVD for my father but it is lost to the world, probably off celebrating the holidays with all of the lost Christmas ornaments out there.

I really like Alastair Sim and have lots of the old Ealing comedies. 'Traditional' Christmas films here tend to be a bit stange. They're often films that the BBC showed at Christmas and have entered the national psyche, The Great Escape or Spartacus for example (not very seasonal)! It's a Wonderful Life generally gets a showing still, and perhaps The Hudsucker Proxy, while my kids, when younger, would have happily watched The Wizard Of Oz every single day of the year! :D

I like all christmas movies except the overtly religious ones and the super sappy TV movies...Elf is awesome but A Christmas story is played for like 48 hours straight on loop in our house, we leave it on even while in bed lol

I don't have cable, but friends tell me how they hate that it is on a constant loop on certain cable channels all day Christmas Eve. It is a must see at the holidays. Christmas Vacation, Christmas Story and Christmas Carol. Seeing a pattern ;) :D.

I LOVE A Christmas Story!

One of these days, I want to forgo the traditional turkey, and go to a Chinese restaurant for the dinner. I may even get a leg lamp!Just for yuks you understand. :D

Carl.

Wife wants to buy a leg lamp with the "fragile" case, the full size ones are pretty expensive and after getting presents this year it will have to wait lol.

Long pause...........
What did you mean by "at that time?" Lunch time, or dinner time? :D

Jack and Elliott, and all the other "mountaineer traditionalists", hopefully soon I will be able to post pictures of me and my knives at pretty high altitudes, if my plans for my holidays get real ;)
