"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Off Topic.
Over the last couple decades, I've been told: "You should dye your beard! You'll look younger!"
I've decided to dye the beard, mustache, and what's left on top.
Seriously. Which of these three shades should I use?

Thanks, and Happy 2023 and beyond to you and yours.

Sorry, I have to brag about prices again. The knife was $5 and the carved stick was $7.

The front pin was missing, so I whittled down a bamboo skewer and glued it with original Gorilla Glue.
The hole in the tang is noticeably smaller than the holes in the slab. I didn't want to try to peen the whole depth without splitting the wood.

As a fellow gray-beard, I think you should maybe try using whatever it is they put on old ladies white hair to give it that uniform, bluish tint…

Or put henna in it and make it orange. Way hipper than that blue dude, and also smells great (the real stuff, anyway).

Looks like you might need a roof rake!
...
I have one, which I used last month despite my six feet of ice/water shield. (It would be too bad if the meltwater backed up seven feet.) This time it was so windy that the roof didn't hold much, and there are thin areas to let the melt run off. But that's when they get you, of course. I'll keep an eye on it.
...
I remember when I lived up in NH there were a bunch of roofers that would make some side cash shoveling roofs after a big storm, somebody had to do it.
These post-blizzard posts about snow/ice on the roof inspired me to post an update about how weird the weather seems to me this year.
Here's what my garage roof looked like last week Monday. It was interesting to see how the wind was constantly restyling the snowy "hairdo" of the garage roof throughout the storm, and in the 38 years I've lived here, I've never seen such a "snow overhang" on the garage roof before!

By Thursday, the garage roof was entirely clear of snow, as were most of the sidewalks and yards! 24"+ of snow disappeared even faster than it appeared. IIRC, we've really only had snow 3 times so far this year (mid-November, the weekend before Christmas, and the Christmas blizzard), but all 3 times were more than a foot of snow, and 2 of them were over 2 feet! Yet all the snow (except possibly shoveled/plowed piles) from each snowfall disappeared completely before the next snowfall occurred - very weird (but wonderful) IMHO!

Nice work on a handsome property!
I get a break on my driveway because it faces straight south.
But yeah, if the weather gods continue to smile, we're in for a pleasant few days.
Thanks for the compliments, Jer. :) The house probably looks its most charming to the general public with a fresh snowfall on its roof (but I personally don't enjoy that view much). Speaking of facing south, here's a shot of the south side of our house the day after the latest snow event ended (the north side looked very similar). I thought that over the years, we had added enough attic insulation and ventilation to eliminate our icicle problems, but there must have been something about the conditions in the snowstorm the weekend before Christmas (lots of snow that was relatively wet due to relatively high temps??) that fostered the development of massive icicles on our house, and most of the houses in our quadrant of the city.

I stand tall…behind the 5th amendment
I see that you've already contacted your attorney(s) about the matter. 🤓😁
