Outliving any savings....or never living to get a pension....conundrum! o_O:D
- yes, indeed, Will..!

Will be 69 next birthday, have worked full time since qualifying as an architect back in ‘82.

Really enjoy some of what I do, but the profession isn’t what it used to be, and the whole construction game just gets more challenging - particularly rising prices - that implicates ‘sharper practices’ and hassle as majority of clients balk at costs.

Add to that, this aging ol’ fart is less capable of handling stress. The last job I project managed on site, the builder was the client’s choice and I knew what would happen - sure enough, but added to that I was threatened and sworn at - never again. Stress killed my dear ol’ Pa, so I must take note.

Nowhere near as good as some, but have a couple personal pensions and a small amount of money, so need to get off my backside, find a good independent financial advisor………see what it’s all going to yield.

We have no kids and the house is all paid up, and however much I know that’s better than some, worry and frustration still weigh heavy.

The weird thing is, cannot seem to galvanise myself into action………it’s as if each day I wait for a sign... Must extract digit.

That's all up to you. My first job was peddling papers at age 7, and I never stopped working until I retired at age 65. My wife & I saved, everything has been paid off for a long time, and we should have enough be able to live comfortably until the end. We've been retired 10 years now, with absolutely no regrets. We're able to buy whatever we want/need, and I'm going to try to work it that the very last check I write before I die completely drains the checking account.:)

As a rule, I don't watch America's Got Talent. That said, I've listened to this half dozen times. These young women are great! I've enjoyed it so much, I just wanted to share.
Japanese brass girl group, MOS.

I was looking through some older photos and came upon one from a few years ago.
I immediately went to Google, and found out that I had missed Yorkshire Day, August 1st, this year.
Here's that photo, and a belated Happy Yorkshire Day Jack Black Jack Black !

Thanks Gary, that's a great composition my friend :) We had fun making Yorkjshire Day chip butties in the Guardians thread! :D Nice crop there

I KNEW I didn't use them all, and still had one 11mm split ring!!!!

Been seeking it for a couple months. I figured it fell on the floor and was playing Hide-N-Seek with me in the carpet. 😡
Found it today. 😁👍 "only" fifteen or ate-teen feets from my desk ...

HOW it bounced and rolled that far on the carpet is beyond me. No way it was stuck to me bare or stocking footed foots or my slippers.
Ida felt it. (or herd it in the case of slippers) on the hard small room floor.

Now I don't have to buy 25+ when I will only need one (I really ... "dislike" ... when that happens.🙄) next month for a going to order on or about 09-01-023 Mikov "Fish Knife" to attach it to the will be ordered at the same time 3 hook pocket watch chain. 😁👍

Please have a great weekend and beyond.

That is very true my friend but Chui Chui has some that will be very hard to do better than .

Harry
Sadly, Harry, though I’m fortunate enough to fish some lovely chalk streams in England, fish stocks this and last year appear to have plummeted………but, must say, when you do get a goodun, certainly is a real pleasure.
My friend who I fish with, he’s far, far better than me (retired and fishes all the time) and though I catch few by comparison, I just utterly adore driving way out of London and being in nature, on a river bank. Bliss.

Chui Chui I understand your hesitation Paul, but as we advance in years stress becomes very much more toxic & unlike our younger selves we can't be as belligerent as formerly, kind of good thing actually ;) Those people who say stress is 'vital' an 'incentive' or still more 'good for you' are unhinged and they obviously haven't really been on the edge in any sense of the word  Stress felled my old father too. As I stood beside the hearse as his coffin was taken out, some of his colleagues gathered there in shock, but he towered above them in death as in life. No compensation for me though, the roof of my world fell in when he died. Yet it taught me that we have little control over things and must make the most of happiness while we can and when we can. The future is always an uncertainty, an abyss- fortunately:)

Fascinating, liked it a lot  But you know, the Paths of Patina Lead But to the Rusty Grave :D:cool: Or the Road to a Rusty Hell is Paved with Good Patina.. 🤣 Three cheers for stainless:thumbsup: Some might say " Don't touch it, leave it as it is, just a light rub with ultra fine steel wool.... don't destroy the 'heritage' The stories it (can't) tell " Yeah right :D

I guess I'll just put this here. Mods, if this isn't the correct place for this, just delete please.

I haven't been posting much this past week because last Wednesday I had a right nephrology-ureterectomy, (removal of right kidney & ureter), due to cancer. It was a four hour operation, and two hours in recovery. I was out of the hospital the next day & moving around very, very carefully. I'm still moving pretty slow, but I'm walking 1 1/2 miles a day now. I still have a catheter, which is quite inconvenient, to say the least.

I go to the surgery center this Thursday & the surgeon will be injecting some dye into the bladder through the cath & check for leaks using fluoroscopy. Then the cath can come out. Yeah!

The surgeon & pathologist have said that although the cancer was high grade, it was all contained in the right ureter, and kidney, with no metastasis to surrounding organs, tissue or lymph nodes. I'm not going to need chemo, which is a relief.

Excellent news that it didn’t spread and you don’t need chemo. Hopefully soon the pain, discomfort, and inconvenience related to the surgery will all be over, and you can put the whole episode behind you .

I'm very sorry you've had to go through this ☹️ Hope you make a speedy recovery 👍

Good that it didn't spread. Will pray for recovery.
