"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Sorry to hear that Wharn. I lost my grandpa just about 1 year ago. He was the one that got me interested in knives. I'm sure the memories you have with him will last your lifetime.

I just saw this. Sorry for your loss Wharn. It's good that you got to spend a little more time with him before he passed.

Very sorry for your loss Wharn Wharn ☹️ I'm glad you were able to get to Connecticut to see him, he sounds like quite a guy 👍

It's been a loong time since I have visited. Just thought I'd drop in and say hello to you folks. I've been grappling with the want to get a Spyderco Native Chief, but it's a bigger knife than I usually buy and I may drop back to a Native 5 Salt. Not traditional, I know. But my son did win a drawing at Montana Knife Company on a Cattleman Cleaver. I hope everybody here is doing well. I think the last traditional I purchased was another Mini Copperhead like mt Avatar with blue bone cover and a red Case shield. Actually that one was a backup for the Avatar knife. Fall is here and like many other sportsmen, I'm tuning up my shooting irons and sharpening my knives and hand axes getting ready for opening day.

My Grandfather just passed away last night. I was able to fly from Hawaii to Connecticut and spend one last good night with him. He was well loved and had the kindest heart. He was a Korean War veteran. 93 years old, God bless him.

Yes, God bless him and comfort all of your family.

Thanks Jack.
I must say she went out on her own terms, VAD.
That's something Mitch, my favourite uncle died in his 30's, but he came home from work, had his steak and chips, sat down, closed his eyes for half an hour before going to the pub, and died of a heart attack in his sleep. He had a short life, but a good one, and there are certainly worse ways to go 👍
