"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

I just heard about this whole pneumonia episode!
Thank goodness you are on the mend Paul, and have a good woman standing by you!! Nice going Maria!!

After all, I've got my heart set on a good Burgoo, when I visit KY!!:D
I too will put my change in the box!!

Great news Maria, thanks for taking the time to update all of us. Continued prayers being sent. During this difficult time don't forget to take care of yourself ( I know that this is easier said than done sometimes).

Have a great day,
Jeff

I must apologise to Paul, and to his Wife Maria,....I haven't been on too much as of late, and I was looking through Charlie's Barlow Thread, and I was shocked to see that Paul ( and of course you too maria ) has been going though such an awful time, I am coming through a big black cloud of my own, thankful I am not in hospital anymore, and I am extremely embarrassed to have come across your terrible news so so late.
Maria - as you can see, theres a lot who care for Paul in this close "cyber' family we have here in Traditionals, and all our thoughts to you both!
Good Luck Paul, all our thoughts too you sir!

Wonderful news Maria, we're all glad Paul is recovering. Get some rest and let the healing power of the Charlow work its magic :)

Ho-HO!

Now I'm ready for all those pesky European measurements.

Bring 'em on.

:)

P.,
be careful what you wish for :D

Maria and Paul,
as my job has taught me, in these cases patience is the key, and as days pass by without further bad news, the odds get better. I'm glad Paul is getting better; soon he will be here again with pictures of his Charlow hidden beneath his hospital sheets :)
Prayers keep coming though :)

Perfectly reasonable form of measurement to me!!! I think all measurements should be made in metric.....

.....well, except the obvious!

Maria, I'm so glad to hear this encouraging report.

(I've been afraid to look/ask.)

Thanks so much for taking the time to let us know.

The anecdote about the Charlow is a sweet one indeed.

I hope you and Paul can both start getting some true rest soon.

~ P.

Please may I echo ~P's comments, I was away from the forum for awhile and just read about Paul today. I pray he continues to get better.

Sincerely,
Griff

Gentlemen, I live about a half hour from the cannery. I can trade Snyders pretzels for knives anytime :D...

Very jealous scruffuk, good beer, great friend, nice knives, and Snyder flavors I have never seen.

:)

I have to confess to being definitely a feet and inches man myself! :) It was a great afternoon out with Scruff, and you were all very much with us :)

Just picked up over 2 kilos of root ginger.
A brew of my Gingifere Ale is long over due!
(Of course I'll have to wait a couple of months before I can drink it but hey).

Guys, Somehow I've missed it, and I'm feeling less than hip (not the first time in my life, let me tell you). Can someone explain to me what a "Charlow" is and why they're called that?

"Charlow" is a relatively new colloquialism coined by Thomason as a shortened form of "Charlie's Barlows," the Tidioute Cutlery (TC-stamped-bolster) barlows that Charlie Campagna-- waynorth-- has commissioned as SFOs from GEC.

It all started here, in the "Whatcha got on order?" thread:

Charlies Barlows! What else!?

Me too. Charlows:thumbup::D
