Don't want to look metro...

Hal, it looks like you scared everyone off with that metrosexual inference.

(And heck, I didn't even know they had that look in Kansas! :p)

Come on down to bastidville Christian. I will introduce you to my "Barber".

The shop still has the old Barber Shop pole.

All the barbers are X-Marines in their 60's and 70's.

About 6 or 7 deer head trophies mounted on the walls of the shop.

A couple of them carry customs in their back pockets made by a local maker.

Hair cut is 10 bucks and just as good as the 25 or 30 dollar salon cuts. Even if there was a difference, I stick to the old adage that the difference between a bad haircut and a good one is two days so who cares.

The magazine rack is filled with gun rags, hunting rags and car rags. (You will not find copies of US, People or the National Enquirer in there.)

The conversations in there are priceless. :D.

Thanks Gus, I may just have to take you up on your offer. The one I used to go to retired a few years back and I haven't found a good barber since. It's not much of a problem as I cut my own hair now (it's incredible what you can accomplish with a couple of mirrors and the willingness to endure a few bad haircuts), but I still enjoy the experience of going to a genuine barbershop every now and then.

I hate misplacin' blades, I've spent 43 weeks lookin' for my knife, I even started to believe my wife hid it:mad: to get me to clean up my little spots around the house where I keep my knife stuff, (basically everywhere).

After 3 weeks where does it turn up?

I've been carryin' it around with me the whole time, it was in my BOB, it was sittin' in a crease in the bag, I shoulda emptied the bag first.:o

I slipped it right back in my pocket like it was never missin' in the first place.:)

They say that as we age the memory is um, dang, I forgot what it was they said.

I lost mine for 2 weeks. It was behind my shoe on a shelf. I couldn't go to blade forums because of the way I felt. It was horrible. I took my shoe out in the country and shot it. It will never hide my knife again. That's about all I have to say about that. Oh glad you found it and at least you don't have a shoe with a hole in it.

It wasn't my BFC knife, but I've done that with other knives & hate to say, even thought my Wife took & hid it, too. Of course, it always seemed to show up & it wasn't an evil plot by the Wife to get rid of my knives, either. It was that I simply forget where I put it...:o

I'll hafta remember that, now off ta threaten my shoes, just in case it was a conspiracy.:D

Hi,

Man, it's been a long week. Just one thing after another. Plus I think I screwed up, I think I may have given up my semi-retirement and agreed to go back to work full time. Oh well, I never did care for sittin' still too long.

Got a little more to do yet today, and maybe I can get a couple photos of my additions done this evening. Plus I got some reading to catch up on.

Been a great day.

Went for a walk! First time since mid December that I have been able to do it without a decent amount of discomfort. Blade was ok, but by Friday afternoon there was too much pain to deal with. This Friday the doc and therapist cleared me to start getting back to normal. They said the foot would tell me when it was time to stop and all I had to do was listen to it. :D.

Learned quite a bit through this. Thanks to all for the encouragement along the way. The support meant and means a lot to me; not to mention all the patience for the forums knives.

I am only supposed to walk for the most part, but jogging a few feet is OK. Dogs and I went for a little over a mile.

Glad to hear you are mile-ing it Gus!! This bodes well!!
The dogs are VERY happy also, as can be seen from their foolish grins!;)

That's enough relaxation. Get back to work!

:D

(Glad you're doing better, brother.:cool:)

I bet that after a mile in the heat, the dogs weren't the only ones with their tongues hanging out.
I bet it is great to get out.

Yup quite a sight. Me, the two knuckleheads and 30 goats walking down the street. You could actually hear the doors and windows locking as we went down the street. :D.

The oldest daughter has been learning to drive this summer. She needed to log some highway driving so we loaded up the Suburban after church services and she drove 40 miles to the northwest to a small town called Burnett (pronounced "burn it") for her to practice.

When we got there, we had lunch at this old inn restaurant that serves a great lunch buffet. I had sausage, some great sauerkraut, corn, mashed potatoes, delicious rolls and a piece of chocolate cake. I also drank some of their brewed sweet tea. I was stuffed. The rest of the family tried the baked chicken, meatloaf, salads and other things they had in the buffet. I like this old inn restaurant because it has a tiny tackle shop as you walk in. They also have a bunch of Buck knife rotating displays (lots of traditional knives in there). Gotta love this small town charm!

It was a nice day and although she drifted out of her lane a couple of times, she is doing better every day.
