Hey can you guys get out of the way please. I want a picture of the stones not "the stoned".
How the hell did we ever start an empire?

LOL! That is a great pic Meako! :D

Crusties and Special Brew! :D

Those are the people who would be climbing on top of buildings such as in the movie "Independence Day" saying "take me with you"....

As per my post this morning in the Traditional Sunday Picture Show thread (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...e-TRADITIONAL-sunday-picture-show!!!!/page197), I had a lovely walk round two remote 19th century reservoirs yesterday. The weather was overcast for most of the day, but Spring is definitely here in Yorkshire. I thought I'd share a few pics:

The tiny hamlet of Blubberhouses, which sits at the head of the now-flooded valley, was once the site of Europe's biggest water wheel, used to power mills, where orphan children brought from all over the country were exploited to an extent which was of note even in the day. The houses where they were imprisoned are still there.

Sixteenth century Swinsty Hall sits close to the edge of Swinsty Reservoir. It is supposedly haunted by the ghost of a man called Robinson who supposedly bought the house with profits made from the sale of goods looted from the victims of the bubonic plague. However, the hall was actually purchased by him more than a dozen years before the first appearance of the plague in England.

Jack that's a beautiful place and unknown to me. I'm jealous, we don't know what spring looks like up north here.

Thanks Paul, it's pretty much in the middle of nowhere, somewhere between Bolton Abbey and Harrogate. The nearest main road is Roman in origin. Hope you get some sunshine soon my friend

I'm afraid I've had another Senior Episode! I did some shopping this afternoon, and decided to pick up a couple of bottles of IPA. When I got home, I was feeling rather parched, so I put one bottle in the refrigerator and the other in the freezer. Twenty minutes later, I opened the first bottle, and found it drinkable, but still a little warm. Several hours later, I just went to get the other, only to find it wasn't in fridge, but rather frozen solid in the freezer! :(

Been there, done that, Jack! :o:thumbup::o IPA-sickles are tasty, but tough to remove from the bottle! :D
Thanks for the photos of the reservoirs earlier. Nice to see some green grass and young lambs!:thumbup:

Thanks GT, I'm relieved not to be entirely alone! :D  Unfortunately, my computer keyboard is having some sort of malfunction too and some of the keys have stopped working. I've just had it apart, but can't see what the problem is, must e electronic. Think I'm going to have to buy another, less than six months old too :grumpy:

Let me guess, it's the 'B' that causes some prolems :p

It looks like you had a lovely Sunday. A visit to the British isles is still on my to-do list, hopefully I'll come around to it soon. I'd love to travel from end to end to enjoy the countryside and hear all the different accents...

Is that a sickle-bar up in that tree? :)

Blubberhouses! Great name.

Apparently unique (unsurprisingly), means 'House of Bluber', Bluber being the surname of an early local resident.
