"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Thanks Stephen, I don't think I've done that one yet, but I may just have forgotten! :D

Thanks GT, I'm relieved not to be entirely alone! :D  Unfortunately, my computer keyboard is having some sort of malfunction too and some of the keys have stopped working. I've just had it apart, but can't see what the problem is, must e electronic. Think I'm going to have to buy another, less than six months old too :grumpy:

When my keyboard gets wonkey, I can usually fix it with a “memory reset”. It takes a few minutes, but the keyboard works again.

Check with whoever makes your keyboard. There might be an at-home fix.

Thanks Raymond, I've never had this problem before, but will give that a shot

Hey, thanks Raymond, plugged in the keyboard again, and there seem to be no problems now, saved me a trip to town :)

With the rise of being able to self-publish I have begun to wonder when Jackknife's Tales are going to appear in book form. Many authors are beginning to choose this route. I know there are audio tapes as well that can be put into print form. So what say ye folks? Would we want to see a book form of these and more tales? I would! How about putting in a book with the 2015 Knife of the Year? Just a thought.

Today I'm experiencing a first. Rory, all of three months old, had a complete meltdown so we tried putting on Baby TV.

That is some horrible trippy stuff that totally hypnotised him. I feel unclean.

Hey Paul -you and Claire might want to take a look at this- Janette and I found it very effective a few years ago-not so much now as they are older. Though Rory is probably a bit young just yet it is a good system . Consistency is the key. I felt really sorry for a woman in Woolies yesterday. I could hear her screaming toddler over the other side of the store and by the beard of Odin she was going off big style. The mum calmly ignored her which was good. Therer were lots of eyes rolling and pained yet sympathetic expressions on everyones faces.

I'm reminded of a Porky Pig cartoon where his is babysitting a baby while a working mother goes off to work (WW II era cartoon) and leaves him with a child psychology book in case he needs help. He tries everything in the book and the kid outwits him at every turn. When the mother gets home, she asked if he used the book and he says it didn't work. She picks it up and starts spanking the kid with the book, which does work.

So make sure you get that 1-2-3 Parenting in the hardback version, in case you need to use it the right way. ;)

I love the way the kid looks like a wharfie (dockworker) dealing the cards and then skipping with the cat.

If anyone produced such a cartoon today they would be in BIG trouble with civil libertarians, child welfare, animal rights groups etc.etc. ETC!!!!

I can tell you from experience (both ends!), that properly administered spankings work better than any book.

Agreed -There is a commonly used saying in our house-in fact I used it no more than 10 minutes ago (school day morning in this time zone) it goes like this-
"Does Mr Boot need to pay a visit to Mr Backside ?"
It is humourous -but has the effect of diffusing most situations with its underlying threat of extreme violence.

Carved this one up with a Peanut and a Victorinox Pioneer. Not a Carl inspired carry at all.

Anybody else having any problems posting? I've been trying to post in the Barlow thread for what seems like the last hour - tried all the usual tricks - but all I'm getting is frustrated

I had no problems earlier today, but I haven't tried for almost 4 hours. Sorry I can't help you, Jack. :(

Thanks GT, I really don't know what was wrong, sometimes happens for some reason, but I've never had it this bad, I was having to edit my post in a LETTER at a time, and even that eventually failed!

No wonder you were frustrated! :thumbdn::thumbdn:
Are you back to normal now?

I just tried to post. Copied a pic from photobucket, changed tabs back to BF and my long response was gone. Happened earlier today too.
