"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

I'm on my way to Pittsburgh today. We had a death in our family. My cousin's 31 year old son, Patrick, died from a rare cancer he's been fighting. I can't imagine losing a child. Please say a prayer for the family.

Be back around here in a few days.

Very sorry to hear this Gary, safe travels and we look forward to having you back.

Kris

My sincere condolences .

Thanks to all of you for the good wishes, thoughts and prayers. We have a great bunch of people on this forum.

I light of the loss Gary's family has endured, it feels a little trivial to post this. However The impact of his life has touched some people here and a first run Charlow even came into my possession because of him.

Saturday, I had to put my best friend down. Scout limped up to me as a pup thirteen and a half years ago with a foot so injured I was afraid he may loose that foot. We nursed him back to health but he always kept that scar. He went with me to school when I went off to be a dog trainer, and together we learned about people and dogs in a course I thought was more rigorous than my time in Army Basic.

Over the years he's helped me train dogs, brought families together, and help mend some broken hearts including my own. I miss walking those Autumn trails with him, telling him my thoughts and dreams. I put years of work into him and he in turn put years of himself in me. Those who met him loved him. He was not just mine, but he was the best part of me. I can't remember feeling so empty.

Nothing trivial about losing a 13 1/2 year companion. My condolences to you and your family. I'm very sorry for your loss. I've lost a few canine companions in my lifetime and I still get misty when I think of them. They truly are man's best friend.

Sorry to hear about your loss, Mac; that's a very tough situation for you. I'm sure it will be a sad day you'll never forget, but I'm also sure you've got far more happy memories of the times you had together.
