"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Gary, so sorry for your loss, my condolences.

BT, Scout is a beautiful companion, a heartbreaking loss, my condolences as well.

My heart breaks for you. I have list two of my best friends too - I remember coming home and just not wanting to open that door- I have two big stones in my garden each with their names laser etched in- LUKIE BOY & MURPH.
Scout was an incredible looking dog. You are lucky to have had his friendship and love my friend.

A lot of sadness in this thread lately, my condolences to everyone concerned

Gary I almost punched the clock on my parents about the same age. I'm the oldest and never have my parents acted or treated me the way they did in the wake of my accident. It's still unnerving to recall what they went through. I can't imagine but your and yours have my prayers.

BT - a more true quote about dogs never have I heard "Dogs are the only creature that love you more than themselves". Maybe I'm a dog too...I love them more than most people. I feel for you.

I'm getting ready for deer season which starts this weekend, and had to decide which knives to take. Going with my big Cattle King #49 Queen in D2 for the pocket, and my SamuraiStuart hunter in M4 for the fixed blade. Weather looks to be good as well!

Me too, as well!

My sincere thoughts are for the victims and their families of this act of terror. Sad news in bad days... :(

I want to do something about this horror. I think it's a fine gesture, Randy; count me in.

Grim news from you Gary, I feel for you.

Grim news from many places obviously, cruelty and barbarism are offset sometimes by the greater human virtues of compassion, solidarity and altruism. These are the virtues I see here, they do exist in a world of hostility, may they always remain.

I will leave this closed until the regular forum moderators can decide what level of political expression is appropriate, if any.

I have removed several posts.
Even though this is the Lounge, the primary forum posting rules still apply. No politics or chest thumping.
Gold members do have the option of making various statements in the Political Forum.

If someone wants to post in this thread that they are going to hold a moment of silence for victims of the Paris tragedy at a specific time, that falls within our guidelines. Organizing such a moment beyond that announcement probably does not. Extended discussion of the whys and wherefores for such a moment gets pretty iffy real fast, too.

The thread is now open. Post friendly.

I used to see a lot of these in the mountains in northern Japan thirty years ago, but they're pretty rare around these parts.

Did you see that about 5pm today? That's when I noticed a very cool rainbow - perfect arch that I could see both ends!
