Will, I'd put a couple of Tassels that those Dancers use on that Tree....

When people visit, they would ask your wife" whats Will doing with that Tree? - the reply would be ..."I dont know - but he's become a real Tree Hugger of late"

That is a" sexy" looking tree? I feel like I'm in Grammer School again. :)

Hey, I ran across this today. It's something I definitely don't see everyday. Anyone familiar with these?

I have the long and short Gerber version of those, I think mine are O1 with some type of coating. I will post some pics later.

Woodworms, which are furniture beetles, which are carpet beetles, will eat anything organic, and will even eat synthetic carpets to get at the few natural fibers accidentally included.

Gasman. GREAT score. I was just sitting in a Cafe with my lovely Wife explaining the Travisty that Shrade was allowed to close its doors.
What a honest good old fashioned company to actually give a warranty that if you LOST your knife that they would replace it.
I would never have taken them up on that but definitely gone back to them. On the flip side you get the scum who lie to get a free knife- now we have lost this amazing Iconic Cutler Firm.

Yeah, the older guy that sold it to me was telling me about the warranty. That's unheard of nowadays. My how the world has changed.

Gentlemen, this is not the corner bar. There are ladies who grace this forum with their presence. Talk of tassels will cease forthwith.

Ive often wondered what goes on over there during a sheep drought.:p

oops .
my apologies.
missed that warning post.
I was in too much of an all fired ,full steam ahead,V8 supercharged hurry to do a spot of kiwi bashing.
Thats karma I guess.

I'm imagining a horn handle that has been eaten by bugs has benn lying around for years on a shelf in a shed or somewhere. If it was used regularly they wouldn't get a chance because of constant movement.

Time for a story.
In something like January 1948, a married couple was traveling in Pennsylvania by car. Weather forecasting was pretty much non-existent in those days, and they got caught in a bad blizzard. The young man driving the car realized they had to get off the highway. The only option for shelter was a truck stop. Truck stops in those days were pretty sparse as to accommodations. They had a bathroom and bunkhouse for the truckers. And that was pretty much it. When the couple arrived, the only thing the manager could offer was to hang a blanket across the end of the bunkhouse and let the couple stay there.

The truckers in those days were commonly WW II vets and were generally pretty tough men. As drivers drifted in, each would start describing in no uncertain terms just how miserable the weather was using various profane expressions. Each new driver was then greeted by the other truckers with, "Hey, Pipe down. There's LADY back there." And each arrival would say, OOPS! And immediately pipe down.

A number of years later the son of that couple was learning to cuss. And being an average young man, had not learned discretion as to when and where such words should be used. One day his mother took him aside and told him that story. The moral he learned from that is that real men do not cuss in front of ladies. It is a lesson which he applies to this day in daily life, and in this forum.

And that, my friends, is why I fuss over the use of foul language and sexual references. Because my mother, who was born 98 years ago, taught me to do so.

There's a thread on those around here somewhere, with tips for telling their age. I've got a couple from garage sales. The older ones could snap onto the sheath to use as a handle. The ends came to a blunt edge for gralloching deer.

Kris love seeing the old Gerber steels. I had a Bird and Trout from the early 70's that was a mainstay for my trout fishing. I had a Folding Sportsman II with the Solingen blade as well, very nice folder for the time period.

My pleasure Jerry, we should not forget that Gerber made a fine blade back in the day.
I've got a couple of Gerbers from the late 70s - early 80s that seem to be good knives. At the time they were considered to be a quality brand. They are not of a style I can discuss here on the Traditional forum, however.

The multiple Gerber folders I owned were lock backs, no different than a Buck 110.
