I wasn't expecting a croc that huge to come out of that little pond!

Apparently you can tell when they're approaching to attack by the ripples they makes on the surface.... Did you see the ripples? look closely....closer......cllohserr.

I'm quite shocked. It's a half domestic heating oil tank reinforced with pine off cuts. The red fish box is screwed in and used as a seat, the white one has some random odds and ends of fishing paraphernalia. As far as I know, the cove can't swim either!

Lets be honest-it's a Coracle:D cue Hawaii Five Oh theme.

meako, is that the Australian version of Santa Claus? :D

We have a crazy cat named Tigger that has to explore everything. She loves boxes, cabinets, closets and anything she can get in and peer out. She really thinks no one can see her when she's in a box or whatever. Tonight as my granddaughter was putting a case of water in the fridge as soon as she got half way through putting them up Tiger jumped in the container and refused to move.

She also has a habit of sitting on the bed while looking out the window which is not strange in itself but she sits on her bottom like a person. I think animals are hilarious and a pet is something everyone should have.

Randy, great boating story! Reminds me of a little adventure of mine.

My brother, me and another pair of brothers built a wooden raft inspired by the famous Kon-Tiki. We were going to be great adventurers by setting it and the four of us boys adrift on a small lake.

Since our raft was really just a number of small diameter logs loosely fasten together with twine and tied by inexperienced 10 year old hands, it didn't hold together well for long. There was quite a bit of shouting about our sinking condition and one of the boys in a panic chose to grab hold of a dead tree we were passing when we were still about 50 feet from shore. His bailing out lightened the raft and the three of us remaining managed to paddle to shore mostly dry before the raft completely disintegrated.

Now the tree the panicked boy was clinging to wasn't much more than a four inch pole jutting straight up out of the water. He valiantly clung to that wooden pole for dear life, all the while screaming about his inability to swim. This was a surprise to us but explained the poor kid's panicky condition. As the three of us who were safely on shore argued about how to go back out to rescue him, he ever so slowly slid down the tree until he stood chest deep in water and embarrassingly waded to shore.

We of course were very relieved our fellow adventurer made it to shore but, he still took a serious ribbing the next few days each time the story was retold.

My father-in-law, David Gould was one of my best friends. Most people called him Dave, but to family he was just Pa. Pa was an avid traditional knife collector, war veteran, and lived to see his grandchildren. We spent countless hours together comparing slipjoints, sharpening them, horse trading, and haggling over new arrivals in the mail. He particularly loved stag and bone covers.

I lost Pa this morning. He died as peacefully as a person possibly can, quietly asleep in his home, sitting in his favorite chair at the age of 86. There was no pain, and no fear of being in a hospital or nursing home.

He was a good friend and wonderful man. I will miss him dearly.

Pa left his knife collection to me. I'll sort through them in the coming week, and maybe post up some pictures.

My condolences to you. It is great that both of you got to share much more than a hobby. It is becoming more rare when a son in law and father in law get along so well.

Sorry to hear about your loss:(
If you can do it, post up some pictures of his collection to help you remember him and keep his favorite in your pocket.

Yes Barrett and that's why Aussie kids are so well behaved;):D

All over Australia
On Xmas Eve
The kids are excited
Like you wouldn't believe
Mum and Dad say
"Now don't be slack-
Hang up your stockings
And that shredded backpack
Santas Salties get peckish
With all that hard "yakka"
And their favourite treat
Is drunken backpacker.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss.
A picture like that is one to cherish, but when time fades the ink and rusts the steel, memories are what you are left with and it sounds like you have good memories to keep.

In honor of Pa, I think I'll throw some extra stag into my pocket.

So sorry for the loss of Pa. He sounds like he was not only a great man but a father that loved his family. Prayers going up for you and your family.

A friend to horse-trade with is a friend indeed!:D

I am sure you brought as much joy to his life as he did to yours!
I hope I go as happy as he did!

Enjoy the memories! I celebrate his life with you! Stag in my pocket today also!

Sorry to hear of your loss but happy to hear you enjoyed each other's company and shared passions. You were both very fortunate.
Everyone will love to see Pa's/your collection. Cheers to your Father in Law.
