"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Good to see you here Andi :) Very sorry to hear about the flooding, but I am glad you and your family are OK

Hey guys & gals!

Being here after some long time. My sincerest thoughts are on the people in the caribbean sea that got damaged on hurricane Mathew about one week ago.

I know this feeling as my hometown got flooded on 1st June this year as well https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=hochwasser+2016+simbach+am+inn

I got hit hard and heavy. Many damages are not even clear right now...

Me and my family were right and no on got hurt - but we were in luck.

(Forgive the mistakes in my feeble attempt to "schreibe in Deutsch". ;))

starting to get cold in nyc, added to the tiny dining set http://imgur.com/a/KRci2

Very cool knife, spoon and bowls.

Curiosity question as you mentioned the tiny dining set, (going off subject now) I have always heard the average apartments in NYC are very small what are the average size of them. I live in a 3 bedroom 2 bath ranch style house that is 28'X56' (1568 sqft) on a full basement but only a 28'X20' foot finished area. In this area ours is pretty much an average sized house.

that is big! some nyc apartments can go as small as 5-700 sq ft, but of course with all real estate, location location location. folks will pay bonkers prices just to be in the hip areas. some folks will get roommates just to live in nyc because the costs are ridiculous unless they have a good job and even then they might get one roommate just so they can live in Chelsea or Soho, stuff like that.

So so nice to see you posting my friend.
I'm glad you and you wonderful young family are safe matey.

We had a flood in my home town as well quite a few years ago.
New houses in new subdivisions were destroyed with sewage blowing back up through the toilets flooding the new houses a metre deep in a mixture of water tainted heavily with sewage.

Pets tied up outside buried under mud slides - a couple of deaths one just down from my house - an elderly man got out his car and was swept against a fence - he was trapped an decappitated by the force of the water and wire.
Terrible terrible devestating thing to see.

I got out and helped people in cars - I was wading navel high in water. Housing people in my house until the waters dropped down so they could go home - my kids thought it was a big adventure.

I heard this Booming noise- it was waster in a creek reaching the Culvert pipes where it went under the road-of course the water wasn't stopping for nothing - hit the Culvert Pipe and went a good 10 metres in the air- the came down and I watched a garage just get picked up and thrown out the way of the water- never will I forget the Powerful noise of that water.

A new knife, a bottle of wine, a good film, and a packet of Snyders Pretzels...does life get any better than this?! :D ;)

You know, when your daughter calls you at 9:30 on a Sunday night and starts the conversation with, "Everyone's all right", it does not bode well for the content of the rest of that conversation.

Rear ended at a stop light by a drunk driver. No injuries, but her car is not drivable. I went to the scene and drove her to her apartment. I have to say that the police officers were very helpful, but it took a while before we were able to go because of the inebriated driver.

Said drivers should be taken out and summarily . . . . . . . . .

Haha - love the photo of Mocha ....folks...if you look closely - the prey is a wee fly !

Those Sheep look as though they stayed the night at Meakos place Paul!

ROTFLMAO!!!!!:D
