"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Sorry to hear that bugdoc. Best wishes

I recently shared with y'all the loss of my buddy Max. He has been missed and will be for a long time. It was not lost on my wife and kids the effect of him not being here for me. When I met them yesterday evening they surprised me.

They know I try not to kill spiders and bugs even though they are terrified by them. They told me to get a spider out of the car for them, they pulled it off good. When I got to the place the "spider" was supposed to be I saw a flash of fur.

My wife knows I have always wanted a bloodhound. And that I want to train him to track. She found a good one.

The last four weekends have all had something go wrong, but this weekend served up in an outstanding way. I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Chris

Beautiful dog! Previously had a purebred bloodhound and I currently have a rescue that's probably a mix of bloodhound and coonhound. She's getting up there in age. It melts my heart to see the puppy photos.

Bugdoc, I am saddened by your post. I know how this feels for you and I am so sorry.
There is no way my words can soften this for you, I wish it could.

Chris

Bugdoc so sorry to hear about pal. Our animals truly become a part of our family and when we loose them it hurts and swe miss them terribly.

Thanks for the kind words of support guys. It's tough getting through the day. I'm trying to get some work done, and the vet's visit isn't until 4. I'm missing Riles already.

My sympathies on what you and your family are going through. Some of the most difficult and sad times I remember are saying goodbye to a canine companion. They really are family members.

Sincere condolences, Tom, on the sad day you and your family are enduring today. Mourn your pal's passing, but don't forget all the happy memories associated with your time together.

aw man, sorry to read this about your pup. It's especially sad when they otherwise seem pretty healthy. I had a cat that we had to put down years ago, she had a tumor in her mouth. She was otherwise healthy, but things were getting messy. Always hurts to lose a pet.

Ok, I don't get it. I go through the same steps, posting the image to imgur, copying the link, inserting the link, etc. About 25 percent of the time I get an image, the rest of the time I get this. Talk about frustration.

@W.M.B. Are you copying the BBCode? That's what I do and it works every time for me. I click on the thumbnail of the image I want to post. When I get the full size image it has a list of 6 choices to the right of it. The fifth one down is the BBCode. Click the Copy button and paste into your BF text box. I hope that works for you.

I think it worth noting that the process varies depending on whether you are using your computer or a mobile device. I often use the mobile app in conjunction with my desktop because that tends to be the quickest way to get pictures posted. I will take pictures with my phone, upload said pictures to the Imgur app and then log into Imgur on the computer to copy and paste the BBCode directly into my post. ( Peregrin Peregrin , didn't you make a short tutorial awhile back?)

When I use my phone to share a picture on the forums, I have to click the "Share Direct Link" button and copy to clipboard. I then click on the Image insert button in your forum post and paste the link that was copied to your clipboard. Now I have had some issues with this working reliably in the past. Most of the time it works fine, sometimes it doesn't though. When it doesn't, I just put off sharing a pic until I can reach my desktop.

That all being said, Imgur is still my favorite image hosting site and provides one of the best services in that regard (my opinion, of course). It provides its services for free, you have unlimited storage, the interface is simple to use, and it provides a relatively seamless mobile and desktop app integration.

I do the same thing. Post the image to imgur on my phone and copy the BBCode on my Windows 8 PC. I have also done the whole process on my Android phone, but only when I have to. It's a little more tedious. I might have posted a similar description earlier. I didn't bookmark it though.

Here's a few pointers on posting from the Android phone. For some reason I can only do this if I'm opening imgur in Chrome. Last time I checked on the app I couldn't find the BBCode link.
I've uploaded the image and selected the thumbnail.

Click on the drop down Link and you'll get this.

Select BBCode. Now you highlight the link in the box to the right. You'll see Cut Copy Paste. Select the three vertical dots to the right and that will allow you to Select All.

After selecting all select the arrow at the bottom and you'll be back at the Cut Copy Paste prompt. Select copy.

Past that into your BF Conversation box and you should be good to go.
I hope this is helpful. If anyone has questions or comments I'll take them via email, Profile post or Conversation. Thanks.

A little Off Topic. I edited this post to include some tips for using imgur with an Android phone. Hope it's helpful.

As this thread is all about the pictures, providing help for those who struggle is all good, in my opinion.

So you just use your mobile browser and not the Imgur app to process pics? The app removes a couple steps, I think. I can throw something together and put it in the Lounge if you think it would be appropriate.

Sure P, the lounge is probably a better place then here. I was just trying to get the attention of W.M.B. Thanks!
Just a note; for some reason I get a Chrome error when I try use the Direct Link and paste it into the Image Insert box.

If you use your phone to post photos, just click on the 'upload a file' button and it will take you to your photos. Click on the one you want to use and that's it.

You know, I've never tried that option. I'll have to give it a go next time. However, I do seem to recall seeing that the upload direct option is not available to registered only members? I could be wrong though...
