"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

In case there is wondering, MT Damascus was banned by a mod in a different subforum for sending threats of physical violence and insults to another member via Private Conversation.

People have bad days; humans make mistakes. Kris has shown nothing but kindness, generosity, and knowledge in my short time here. It's unfortunate.

There are quite a few people that I know who have been pm'd by Kris with vulgarity- bodily harm - and just how high up in the Knife world he is compared to the lower type- and he would be quite descriptive with that.
I'm not going to get into this but there's obviously a LOT that people don't know probably who or what Kris really is.

Let's not let this get ugly but I just wanted the info to be real.
I hope that Kris can come back and be part of the forums one day - as we all learn.
I really felt for him when his big dog died.

Duncan, I'm glad you broke the ice. I had an unpleasant experience with him as well.
Hoping he gets his act together.

Not to pile on but I was forwarded a PM that Kris sent to Mark. Mark choose the high road and didn't respond, Mark choose to extend an olive branch that was flatly refused. The PM was demeaning, vulgar and full of threats. That said, even something to that extreme can be chalked up to a very bad day, but aside from Mark I know of four other members that where insulted behind the scenes via PM.

I wish Kris could have accepted others opposing opinions and dealt with them in a more civil manner. I never had any direct contact with Kris, in fact I would many times compliment his knives and family yet he included me in a round about way in his attacks which was surprising since we never had issues directly.

I honestly wish Kris the best and that things can turn around in a positive way for him.

Oh, wow. I had no clue. I sometimes forget that internet world does not equate to my world. As someone who works in the construction industry, I'm used to WYSIWYG. I wish Kris the best.

A PM still has to abide by the forum rules. If someone gets a PM containing something inappropriate and offensive, it should be reported. Either the report button can be used or any of the Forum moderators can be contacted directly about the matter.

Duncan's reported PM last week was the first Gary or I had heard of this. Had we realized this was an ongoing issue, it would have been brought to a halt earlier.

At this juncture, I'd say it is time to move on to another topic.

I was quite surprised by this myself. I had no idea this was going on.
I'm going add that the best way to make sure these situations are handled appropriately is to use the report function, as it creates a copy that allows the moderators to see the exact wording and also maintains a record should one be needed.
As Frank said, best to move on now.

OK I'm moving on, but Kris was always very friendly & convivial to me so I was shocked. Mind you, having a bad day and being over the top is one thing, but IF it's a pattern, that's another....

My moving on is a short rant about the fact that since logging on about 10 mins ago, the Forum has logged me off four times in a row. This makes posting of any kind, shall we say 'difficult' It's bizarre , I saw a thread about it the other day and I hope it get's resolved. this has been happening to me quite a lot, ah well, RANTOVER:D

Frank and Gary I don't think we tell you two guy's enough that you're both awesome and that we sure do appreciate you a lot here on the porch. I think that the majority of us that dwell here on the Porch really enjoy the family safe, relaxed atmosphere and the friendly comradery we find her. You two guys are a big part of creating this environment for us and just wanted to say thank you and job well done.

Will Power Will Power Ever since I started using https://www.bladeforums.com I haven't had log in issues. Apparently, the "s" at the end of "http" makes the difference.
There seems to be an issue with navigating from 'https' pages, and links to 'http' pages. When that happens, I go back to a 'https' page and I'm still logged in. Hopefully, it's just a matter of the admins updating all the links, and I've updated my bookmarks.

+2 < One for each of you Frank and Gary. That's some weird stuff to hear.

Frank and Gary, all mentioned above is so true. Your efforts and actions are fair and honorable and very much appreciated.
