Carothers and Guns

New wood and leather. Maximum comfort :) (have a left hand holster coming, too, we'll see how that goes).

And before you ask, pancakes or IWB doesn't work for me for a couple of reasons.

What rigid belts do you all like for concealed carry?
I've been using a nexbelt, which I really like, but it's starting to get pretty ratty and worn.
I like leather belts, and have been using The Beltman for 15+ years. There are many options, look good, and work great.

Kore ratchet belts come in leather as well. I have Kore and Nexbelt. They seem to be equally good.
I don’t know if Nexbelt has made improvements, but I started with those first before switching to Kore, and haven’t looked back.

The Cordura belts are always stiffer/stronger (and rated for more weight on the belt), than the same brand’s leather EDC belts.

The difference I noted was that the Kore leather belt was stiffer than the Nexbelt Cordura (and I prefer stiffer belts for hanging stuff on), but after ~3 years, the leather EDC Nexbelt was about as floppy as my regular leather belts. After 4-5 years, the leather Kore belt is still as stiff as it was when new.

*** and once I tried ratcheting belts, I was sold. 1/4” adjustments? Awesome. Easy adjustments after Thanksgiving/buffets? Yes, please 😁

But especially pertaining to EDC;
Regular belts that use holes and buckles get kinked at the most commonly used position. If you try to use the same belt for IWB and pocket/no-carry/OWB, the different position makes the kinked section obvious.

Ratcheting belts don’t have that issue. They don’t get kinked at regularly used settings, so you can use the same belt for IWB, OWB, pocket carry, fat days, lean days… doesn’t matter.

Did a little shooting over the last weekend.

Put the first 200 rounds through the newest 17L. Man this thing is a dream to shoot. So accurate even with the gen 3 trigger that I despise. Once I figure out how to modify a Glock performance trigger for this gen 3 I’ll get it put in. This may turn out to be my new home, ranch carrry gun.

Also ran 200 rounds through the G5 G17 mos that I added the Radian RamJet to. Ran flawlessly and I was pleasantly surprised that I can definitely tell a difference in felt recoil and muzzle rise. Do I think it’s worth the new price of $400? No, I think it should be around $200 but I still think Glocks should be $450 also. Getting old I guess and it sucks to see prices go up with age. I did however get this one at a very good deal and feel that it was worth it.

Didn’t have much time left but managed another 150 rounds out of the Stacatto P bringing my total to 800 down the pip on it. Haven’t had a single failure yet and have not cleaned it since new.

Running the Holosun 507 Comps (2 green, 1 red) on them all. Love the big window and the many reticle choices.

Consider checking out the Arsenal Democracy Switch trigger. It’s a drop-in option for gen3, and possibly the best one I’ve felt.

I’ve got an extra gen 5 performance glock trigger so that’s what I’ll get the dremel out and work on this weekend. If I can’t get it to fit I’ll check that one out. B bluemax_1

Videos of the mod seem pretty straight forward. Have the Glock triggers in my gen 5 17 and 19 and they’re really nice for the money. Can find them for around $75 new.

Does it reduce the trigger reach? Any experience with Overwatch Precision? Thx
About 1/4” reduction in trigger reach. The key points for it
- trigger safety works like stock
- about 1/4” take-up vs ~1/3” stock, with shorter reset
- a bit lighter than stock, but not overly light
- wider, flat trigger face, and the trigger is angled vs curved, so it’s easy to repeatedly index

I’ve tried the OP PolyDAT, and Zev. The PolyDAT is a pretty good trigger, but I prefer the AD Switch.

The Zev is adjustable, and while it might be good for competition (can adjust things like slack/take-up, pull and reset), I think I just prefer something engineered without the adjustability for all-around use.
