I can pocket carry that 43x. It stole the show at my last shooting session. It runs / ejects well. The Rival Arms barrel groups well - rounds touching at 10 yards with some Hornady 124 XTP that I had. To my surprise the DPM guide rod is very much worthwhile in the 43x comp or no comp. FYI a DPM recoil system makes recoil worse in a 19.
Hi, which recoil spring weight did you use in your dpm setup for the 43x?

CZ 455. Cut down to around 16" and threaded, cerakote, timney trigger... but the 457 is better out of the box. It was 2014 and I made due. LOL at the scope being focused for shots directly down from the roof to the bird feeder.

I have been thinking of getting a CZ457 and a nice scope for plinking and hopefully getting into some .22 matches when we move. I make do with a vintage Rem 572 and Ruger 10/22 T for now. If you have any recommendations for rifle and/or scope, I would appreciate them.

I have a 457 Royal that I posted a while back. I didn't plan on putting a nice or heavy scope on it but after shooting some pea sized groups with Lapua ammo at 80 yards I ordered an Element Nexus 5-20 (is great, nice reticle, focuses close). It checks the box of a much more expensive rifle. I must have gotten lucky though. The trigger is good right out of the box unlike on the 455. Great gun.

The 455 holds 1/2" at 50 yards with Eley subsonic hollow points other than the ~1 in 40 that audibly zings off a bit from bad QC. My particular 455 does not benefit from ritzy ammo like that 457 does.

I still like my 455 very much because I have so many hours out with it and I had not initially ordered the 457 to build a range find and dial the scope .22.

I imagine you using that 572 the most for whatever reason.

Thank you for responding. That Royal looks really nice. They sure have some great looking rifles. I was thinking of the Varmint MTR and Athlon Helos (parallax as short as 10 meters) for bench shooting. I need to look at them more and compare.

My 572 gets used, but is more of a sentimental gun (used one a lot as a kid), and my 10/22 Spiral Target is my designated porcupine rifle for the cabin. It manages to shoot dime sized groups at 25 yards with Aguila standard velocity ammo while using a Leupold 2-7 and riding around on a 4 wheeler or side-by-side; takes a beating but still super reliable. It is in a ugly Hogue rubber overmolded stock vs the nice laminated wood for cabin duty🤣.

Edited to add that I was not familiar with the Element Nexus and looked it up- seems like a great scope, and the place in NY has them for about $400 less than msrp. Thank you again for the response.

I carry AIWB using a tenicor holster, but I'm fairly new to appendix carry. I'm a big fan of the holster, especially with the crotch pillow.

I've never been able to get it to feel as comfortable running both belt clips versus a single clip. I haven't had any issues drawing using the single clip, so that's how I carry.

I'm sure there are people here that are more knowledgeable than me. Is there any reason to use both clips other than added security/strength in the attachment to the belt? Any other benefits? I would imagine if you were carrying a spare loaded magazine in the same holster the two clips would make a large difference in keeping everything in place, but beyond that I can't think of anything else. Granted I am a little sleep-deprived and haven't given it much thought.

I thought you may have been thinking of an MTR. I don't think they come threaded but other than that it looks to be the coolest 457 IMO. The Royal is a joy off a bench but the MTR must be a step up as a dedicated bench gun. The MTR stock looks to be worth the price of the whole gun.

The bolt throw on the 457 is nice in that the handle stays away from lower mounted scopes unlike on the 455. They both cycle nicely.

I’ve had a number of CZs over the years, still have a 452 Special Military Trainer and a 455 in 17, had a 455 Tacticool which shot great for what little work I put into the rifle. Regrettably sold it to fund a 455 Precision Trainer with a Manners stock that never did shoot well regardless of what I did (cryo’d the barrel, put real pillars in it since the factory Manners were a joke, glass bedded it, and had a Flyweight trigger in it set to around 8oz).

Just really bugged me and has had for a while so never got into the 457s…..but I broke down and do have a 457 MTR MDT on order even though I wish the barrel was 4” shorter
