Just saying I do know a guy and he supports this forum :)

Tommy theis holster (I've owned a bunch and it's the best I can find, 55$ shipped!). Beretta 92 compact type L or g19 in same holster brand. Light dress days are a kel tech pf9 with pocket clip in a cheapo nylon holster with its clip removed. Works like a champ.

just picked up a N82 iwb for my p938. I had one for my full sized 1911 and loved it local gun store just got in small ones today :D if you've never tried them they a super comfortable!

Appendix is very body type/holster dependent, what works for some will not work for others. What gun/holster combo were you using? Are you in good physical condition?

Kimber CDP Ultra Carry the short barrel in 45. A version of the Summer Special holster. And I could lose a few pounds but don't have a big belly. 5'10" and 188.

Imho, the Glock 23 is the king of CCW. Reliable, accurate and easy to carry in a variety of positions. And with 13+1 of .40S&W (personal defense loads of some type) you have an impressive bit of firepower. Carrying concealed can be a challenge for me since I usually just wear shorts and a tshirt because of the heat here. I recently picked up a Galco SOB holster and I've been liking it, pretty comfortable for the most part, even when sitting, and conceals well. SOB carry can be tricky though and it's certainly not for everyone.

During the cold months (which are few here) I sometimes run a a full size XDM .45 canted on the hip, strong side, with a Blackhawk Serpa holster. Fantastic gun but very difficult to conceal unless you are wearing heavy clothes. Loaded with 13+1 of .45 it can get pretty heavy at times, its a big sucker. At 6'1" and 210lbs I can usually get away with carrying such a large gun when I need to.

I had a sig p228 can't remember the name of the holster but it was a compact leather holster with a fat belt clip that fit perfectly in either the front of you pants or in you back, it was not noticeable to anyone looking and after 2 minutes you forgot it was there, il try and find a link to the maker .

Everyone that ccws has a drawer full of holsters but I think the "hybrid" with wide leather backings to distribute the weight and a kydex shell are game changers. It just doesn't get any more comfortable than these. Look at Theis and Crossbreed. The only downside is they are hard to put on and take off. I use simple kydex iwb clip ons for quick runs out but the hybrids are all day comfort.

I carry a Glock 32 in a Alabama Holster Co 360 kydex AIWB holster at approx 1 o'clock. It has been modified to ride low at the belt line.

I had a kydex holster drbarnes made me one night when we were bored for my SP101, it worked great until the clip got caught on a seat belt and snapped it.

I currently carry a Sig 290, and the best way I've found is......no holster. That little thing stays snug sight between my belt/pants and my boxers about 4 oclock, maybe 4:30. I'm on my feet all day so I don't get that up and down motion that would make it shift a lot.

I'm thinking you might have had your belt too low, it really needs to ride higher than most people like to wear their pants. If it is too low, it will not fit into your pelvic crease correctly and will definitely poke you uncomfortably. The trick to making appendix work for you is playing around with belt height/tension and also placement of the holster.

Also, people that even have a little too much belly fat will have a much more difficult time making it work than someone like me who is quite slim. I would recommend trying it again for a couple of weeks and making minor adjustments to find a position that works for you. It also could take up to a couple weeks for your body to adjust to having a gun IWB right there.

OWB for me. I have Raven Concealment Phantom holsters for all my guns. I usually rotate my Les Baer Custom Carry, Glock 19, H&K P30, and Dan Wesson CBOB. I carry 3 o'clock or just a little in front of 3 o'clock. I usually wear jeans and t shirts and am able to conceal well. The belts I use are a galco cop series, and an hsgi cobra belt. When it's beach day I put a ruger lcp in my right pocket (I'm not a fan but it is what I have now). On the 9 o'clock left side is always a spare mag, unless it's beach day then the exta mag is in my left pocket. Horizontal across my back with the handle facing my left is either a RMD in a NOE Randall sheath, or a strider dbl.

OH man... I hate to say it, but there is NO good answer here that will work for everyone. Holster comfort depends largely on body type. Size of your midsection often determines which kind of holster will work for you. IWB is not comfortable for fellas with larger midsections. High ride is not good for guys with shorter torsos. Way too many variables here and one size never fits all. But here are my personal observations of many years of carry.

I've carried since it became legal in 1995 and I'm always searching for the perfect holster. It's kinda like the knife bug TBH. The highest quality holsters I own and use are Milt Sparks and Mitch Rosen. Other custom makers also do a fine job.

As far as different ways to carry, there are many. Ankle is very, very very concealable under long pants but not very good while upright since you must kneel to draw. While driving ankle carry is excellent, far better than any waistband carry since the seatbelt generally restricts drawing. Pocket carry is also very concealable, but worthless while sitting. Sitting makes your gun unreachable.

IWB is very good for concealibility. It is also pretty comfortable with a good holster. The Sparks VM2 is very hard to beat for comfort, and quality. It's not cheap, but how many quality items are cheap. The problem with IWB is you must make a wardrobe change. Add 2 inches to your waist size and buy a good solid belt adding the extra inches too.

Shoulder holsters are only worn in hollywood movies and by people who wear white pants and pastel shirts. It's not comfortable and not very concealable or practical to run around in a buttoned jacket. It's also a very slow cross-draw action. Bad idea.

OWB is fine so long as you have a very minimalistic design that doesn't 'print' through your shirt. Longer shirttails may be required depending on slide or bbl length of your gun. OWB requires no wardrobe changes generally.

So, the answer is... there is no answer that works for everyone! :D Just remember you will be sitting, driving and standing throughout your day. A lot of fellas carry two for this very reason. An ankle carried backup can be very reassuring. 3 o'clock IWB or OWB with a 45ACP and a nice little J Frame on the ankle covers your bases pretty well.

EDIT TO ADD: If you don't have a good solid belt, no holster in the world will be comfortable. I like the wilderness products. The Frequent Flyer belt is very lightweight, very durable and works very well.

I carry a Kahr PM9 in a custom pocket holster most of the year. Be it shorts or blue jeans. In cold weather when I sweat less, I carry a Colt New Agent in .45 acp owb @ 4 o'clock. NC just made leaps & bounds into the 21st century this week updating our ccw law.

I like the super tuck deluxe with horse hide by crossbreed in the winter. I went with horse hide because it feels softer and does dry out like other leathers tend to do. I just switch to pocket carry in summer.

There is a reason for the "box of holsters" meme. These days I pocket carry because that is the most comfortable and convenient for me and means I carry all the time. It is also the option (IMHO) least likely to have accidental exposer. In the past I have carried hybrid models (kydex/Leather) IWB from both Crossbreed and Comp-tech. I tried OWB but was always worried about accidental exposer. I eventually want to get some custom holsters these guys https://www.dragonleatherworks.com/ http://www.theholstersite.com/ are at the top of my list.

Lifestyle seems to have a lot to do with it. Picking up and carrying kids and diaper bags on a regular basis stopped the whole untucked owb thing for me. I absolutely hate any iwb unless it is to left of my belt buckle with my J frame snub for quick trips to the store or something. I wet molded that holster myself because I could not find one that was what I wanted.

Most of the time if I am not wearing a jacket or long sleeve shirt over my base layer or tshirt I am carrying a gun in my pocket. That has been a Kahr PM9 for a long time. I carry it in a Uncle Mike's pocket holster and have never had any cause to regret it. Unlike most people I know I am also a firm believer in carrying a spare magazine. Not because of more rounds per say but because that is likely the part that will fail or come out of the gun when you most need it. Single stack guns like the Kahr make that a whole lot easier and I made a rear pocket holster for that too.

If I am carrying OWB for long period of time I will use a desantis pancake.
