Carry two knives?

No, you sure didn't.

Putting a " : ) " at the end of your post doesn't make anything clear.

Now you know.

One of hte problems with internet/forums communications is an inability to use voice inflections and non verbal cues. There is simply a lacking dimension and sometimes the written/typed word just can't substitute properly.

...has nothing to do with carrying two knives.

Today, I carried two knives. One was Queen copperhead, and the other was a ZT 0300. This combo does very well for me, for most of the reasons everyone's been laying out in this thread.

Reading BF has definitely had an effect on me.:D I now carry a SAK Tinker in the pocket and a Griptilian or Endura on my left side, IWB.

I agree warp. Sometimes when I write a response, text, or email, I wonder if the other party is going to take it the wrong way. It is hard to come across like you want at times. Btw, I enjoyed carrying my knives today. The Persistence really got a workout as I cut down a bunch of cardboard. That ffg blade is a great slicer. Got to cut down more tomorrow and my ZT0500 is taking care of that!

I find that most of the time, it's very handy to have some other tools available, so I'll carry a SAK. However, the blades, while functional and useful, aren't always the right shape or length for my intended uses. To satisfy that criteria, I'll bring along another knife, usually a slipjoint with a different blade shape.

Only two. Right now I have a spyderco delica4, a sa hiker, and a sa classic on me (been there all day).

I usually carry 5 knives on me.
1 - Kershaw Skyline (With damascus blade)
2 - SAK Super Tinker
3 - SOG Micron
4 - Buck Nano Bantam
5 - Bradley Kimura

The Skyline is my go to knife. It's usually located in my front right pocket. I'll use it for 80% of my cutting tasks, however, I usually won't pull it out around sheeple.

The Super Tinker is my sheeple knife. It resides in my right back pocket. I use it mostly for it's scissors, although I will use the small blade to sharpen pencils or cut threads while in college.

The SOG Micron was free and it resides on my key chain. I don't think I've ever used it, but it hardly takes up any room, so I keep it there just in case.

The Kimura is my "sheeple scarer", and it's also a temporary resident in my left back pocket. I can't take it to where I shop or work because those places are in Maryland. I keep the Kimura on me for somthing to do when I get bored. I sometimes like to sling it around when sheeple are around. I think it's hilarious to watch a sheeple piss himself :) (That was a joke) LOL ROFLCOPTERZZZ

Isn't it kinda wierd to carry just one knife?

For any man with a set of family jewels, knives should be like Lays potato chips!

Nuff Said

WARNING!!! THIS POST INCLUDES HUMOR!!! DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF A JOKE! (Warp)

you are a disgrace to all responsible knife carrying citizens of the world. its retards like you that will ultimately be the downfall of our great nation, and the world. it is people like you that use knives to scare people, rather than using then to prove their usefulness, and show them that knives DO NOT kill people.
------WARNING------THIS POST CONTAINS HUMOR----IF YOU DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS :):) MEANS, DO NOT READ:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I'm carrying two flashlights today. Maybe I am crazy... :D

considering batteries tendancy to expire at short notice, I would say....no.
especially as you really need light to change batteries. which is kind of difficult if your only torch is the thing needing new batteries.

I've noticed that a lot of y'all carry two (or sometimes more) knives at a a time as EDC. I'm not judging or being critical in any way (truly not my intention) but I am curious as to why you would need more than one folder? It is for different blade styles for different applications? Or is it for a backup in case your primary knife is lost somehow?
Don't get me wrong, I own quite a few knives but only ever carry one at a time. carrying two at a time may elimate the predicament of waking up every morning and debating which knife to take with me for the day (lately it's been between my ZT 0300 and my Emerson CQC-15).

Why not?:D

I usually just carry one knife in "EDC" mode.

When I carry more than one, it's generally because I'm going to be doing something that would be relatively abusive to the primary knife... or conversely, because I want to do something too refined for the primary knife.

Relative to my Large Sebenza, an example of the former would be carrying a 0.20 Game Warden to construction sites for poking and prying at things. An example of the latter would be taking my Burnley Mini Kwaik to the office to cut paper with.

I've noticed that when I'm working on construction projects around the house, my utility knife (Stanley OTF style) tends to find its way out of the nail bags and into my pocket. That would be another case where I have two knives (sorta) in EDC mode. The Stanley comes out for cutting sticky stuff, etc. - so I don't have to clean the 'Benza. The Stanley is more of a construction tool, though.

Of course when you're out in the sticks, two or three knives are better than one. I like to have something small enough to do fine tasks, and then something burly enough to do a little light chopping and splitting of kindling, etc. The BAIII is good for that. If I'm only going to carry one outdoor knife, it'll tend to be a little larger than a pocket folder (like the BAIII).

I usually carry a very small, light folder with me when climbing. This is used (infrequently) for things like cutting old rappel slings. This is more like "gear" than an EDC knife, though.

Update: For the last couple of days I've been carrying two knives. A large full size model and a smaller lighter folder. You've all made a convert out of me.

Some women collect rings and wear 5 or 6 and no-one says "boo".

As Canuck said--I like knives, I collect knives, I carry what I collect.

I regularly carry two--a fancy folder for casual public use, a fixed blade for heavier use.

Plus--a loaner SAK Cadet and a backup in a bag, and a multi-tool in my backpack.

I tried carrying 2 knives in the past and it just ended up taking too much space in my pockets and it wasn't any more useful for me than just carrying one. I really don't like filling up my pockets and with a wallet, keys, a cell phone, flashlight & one knife, I have enough stuff.

I carry multiple blades because that is just how it ends up. I always have the lil SAK on my keychain, so there's one. My EDC consists of either my Schrade ClipHanger or Buck 110, my Leatherman Super Tool, and a SAK Farmer. They have different uses and such, so I find it easier to just carry them around...

Wasn't trying to insinuate that every knife is a folder, just that most of the threads I read are about folders since I only have a couple fixed blades and it was in the threads about folders that I saw a bunch of people talking about carrying two knives. Didn't know that made me a sheep....

Just ignore PR...it works for the rest of us...

The other day I stoped at the courthouse to pay my property taxes. When I put my metal stuff in the tray, I had five knives. That is what I usually carry.

I was gonna say something like "holy crap! that's alot of steel!!" then I realized I usually carry four when just around town...

I usually carry 2 but 3 at work... Always a Vic classic on my keys , a large sebenza or other +\- 3" folder and at work I always carry a leatherman kick as a loaner to people who may use a knife in an abusive mannor...

I am going to start carrying a butter knife for those who would use it in an abusive manner. :D

Actually, my gov't gave me one, and told me to carry it. In CANADA, gun's aren't toys, Knives on the other hand....

Where, pray tell, ARE guns considered toys?

I usually have at least two, one for serious tasks and one for light stuff. I work in an office and I don't feel like having to explain my Manix 2 or Sage 2 for cutting open a package. Reaching into the bottom of my pocket and pulling out a peanut saves me the trouble.

I have learned from past experience that I don't want to be labeled the "he seems nice, but he carries that big knife" guy at the office. Most of the professional ladies (and men, for that matter) probably think that clip on my pants pocket is a fancy pen. Or maybe they just don't notice it, but I don't think anybody knows I carry a full-sized knife and I'm perfectly happy to keep it that way. I can't imagine what they would do if they found out what that bulge in my OTHER pocket is!!!!

It's not that I'm ashamed of my hobby, but why let it adversely impact your status at work just because others don't understand the difference between a tool and a weapon?

Does that make me a sheep? If so then BAAAAAAA.....

Ghehe, i'm known as the knife guy at work but so far i don't have any problems with it, when people need a nice they come to me.

I always have 2 or 3 on me, mostly 2 with a Leatherman XTI in my work bag.

This has just summed up the way I feel about my knives. Great post elkins45!:thumbup::thumbup:

For work I carry 5 knives. I carry my Paramili RF because...well because its a paramili, need I say more. I carry my SAK farmer RR, because I use the saw around the shop and main blade for food prep. I carry my Delica IV LR, because I got in the habit of keeping a knife off hand when I carried my sidearm for 6 months in the sandbox, and also because if I am in a hurry in the morning and forget to put my para in my pocket at least I still have a dedicated folder with me. I carry my boker subcom clipped inside the waistband of my underwear as a last ditch knife/loaner knife because the short wide blade is tough to mess up and really easy to sharpen. Finally I carry my SOG Power assist in a combo belt sheath w/minimaglite because it comes in handy when I am crawling around under a building inspecting plumbing systems. I know it seems like a lot of redudancy but these every tool has its purpose and oh did I mention....I really like showing off my knives.
