Carrying a folder vs a multi tool

I just like carrying a knife. I find that I use my knife, way more than a multi-tool.

I suppose this sort of qualifies as a multitool.

Still use it at work occasionally.

Today's carry

Folder's blade shape and steel, plus agressive teeth, add versatility to the cutting capabilities you have on your person
Micra's great scissors give you further options, or the ideal choice to use around people

Not sure, but I do know that the knifeless fuse your thinking of is called the kick, there was the kick fuse and blast ( I really want to find a blast as it ads a file and a few other things to my fuse )

No, specifically this: http://leatherman.co.uk/product/Knifeless_Fuse

The Kick still had a blade; it's not on Leatherman's site anymore, but a few retailers still have product description pages for it, with photos.

SOG powerlock on my belt for 13 years. Very good set of pliers, the most important tool on a Multi tool IMO, the rest of the tools are adequate for 85% of the line calls at work when I don't have my tool bag.

You can even take off the blade, as in the Knifeless-fuse or the aforementioned SOG Powerlock if you mod it.
TSA-approved, UK friendly, etc.

And have a folder as a backup or a small, non-locking SAK if you cannot carry locking blades

Folder for quick deployment, and multitool for utility. For me, the Leatherman Rebar and Victorinox Swisstool Spirit have the highest utility to weight ratio for easy EDC. Either will ride unnoticed in the vertical pocket of 5.11 Taclite Pro pants.

I always have at least one small Victorinox on me (one is always on my key-chain). The least used tool on my multitools are the knives!

In my opinion this is a good combination, a folder, a multitool and a flashlight... I never leave my house without them..

Dang, people, why don't you realize/recognize/understand that different people live/work in different situations, and that different situations call for different tools/implements?

Yeah, go ahead and call me a "Troll" because, at the moment, the only thing I carry is a Leatherman. Now that you have done so, whydontchya actually come and walk in MY SHOES for a couple of weeks?

YEESH!

I carry both a medium sized folder and a leatherman. The folder comes out a lot more often than the leatherman. But Id hate to have to do without my leatherman though as I use it often. Just trimmed my nose hairs with the scissors. :-)

What? Who called you a troll in this thread? This is your first post here.

...who are you talking to? No one has said anything to you.

Yeah, I'm confused. Especially after having said this.

I present this as an indication that I actually know something about human behavior, especially about how our emotions all-too-often overcome our rationality.
.

Odd start. Maybe step back a second Ventura Guy. Regroup. Only one chance to make a first impression!

Hi. I generally carry both :) . My multi/tool of choice is, since years, a SOG Power Assist (in a special edition manufactured by FOX for the Italian Army). Pliers are really good and the rest of the tools are just fine for my daily uses . The saw always sees some action on hiking trails, screwdrivers come in handy on production lines, warehouses or other work related tasks, bottle opener it’s good to have when removing crown caps from drinks, etc. Just yesterday evening, I did a quick fix to my little son’s scooter which had a minor break-down at the park :).

Folder is a folder :). Sees a lot of use for preparing my breakfasts and lunches in the office canteen and cuts random stuff during the day. Honestly I’d say like this: for my uses I could do 90% of the things with my multi-tool besides the food preparation for which it is really a bit unpractical. But the joy from a folder is unique ;).

My set-up for this week:

Take care!

Even though I never mention it , I carry a Leatherman Surge on my belt every single day that I'm at work .
My beloved Spyderco's always get mentioned and always star in the pictures I post , but the Surge is always silently lurking in the shadows .
