Carrying multiple knives

I consider myself a knife enthusiast, but maybe I m not as enthusiastic as everyone else in this thread. I carry a folder clipped in side my waist band every day, 3 1/2 to 4 inch blade. No second knife on me.
Today a Ritter Griptilian.
I do carry an Endura and a multi tool in my car.

Great question, makes me feel less like a "knife nut" to know I am not the only one carrying "multiples." Having said that, I always want to have an SAK or a multi tool on me. Perhaps its because I was a boy scout, you know, wanting to be prepared. At least one folder on top of the SAK or tool, and I sometimes will just grab a small fixed blade, mostly because I like them. Truthfully, I have never been out to dinner with my wife or friends and had a need to pull out a multi-tool, but I will still take one every Saturday night when we go out. I also tend to carry more based on the season. Living in NY, when it gets to be this time of year I have more coats and shirts with pockets on. More pockets simply means more places to put knives.

Does anyone else fear that a "non-knife person" might ask you how many you have on you and you know that if you tell them they just won't understand??

I carry 2, a small 4.0-4.75" fixed blade on my belt and a 5-7" fixed in my pack (which I carry everywhere I go).

Neither of these knives are what I would consider my "typical edc's", usually both roles are filled by CMFTW knives but this was today's carry, just uploaded the pic so might as well share it in this thread...

Small knives sheath not pictured cause it was still on my belt.

Hey Cosmo -

No - I play each situation at face value.

If I think the inquisitor is a knife-curious, or affectionado, I'll go knife guy on them.

If, however, the vibe is more "this guy has knives!", I'll show them my Vic and explain how invaluable the tweezers/bottle opener/corkscrew is - depending on the nature of the inquisitor.

It is a delicate game, but every so often you reveal a real knifer. Then you can let your edge-freak flag fly. Good stuff those.

Depending on my mood, or maybe what I have planned for the day, I'll carry a modern folder, or a traditional like a Barlow or stockman as my main blade. I always have a Vic Alox Cadet in my left pocket.

I always carry a tiny Kershaw Cinder on my keychain. Besides that, I have a Leatherman Wingman or Sidekick and generally a Spyderco or a Byrd folder on me.

The Cinder is an amazing little knife for about $10. Super sharp and tiny.

Today, different look, same premise;

Keychain extra (for scissors and small jobs)
Slippie for specialized, people friendly, and/or finer tasks
Folder for most standard quick tasks
Fixed blade in the event of a larger tougher task.

Used to carry two knives - Ka-Bar BK11 and a folder on rotation. Nowadays, I skip the fixed-blade and just carry a rotational folder (Benchmade Griptilian, Cold Steel Code 4 or Spyderco Endura 4). However, I do also carry a Leatherman Surge which has two blades on it, so while I carry only one actual knife, I actually have three blades on me at all times.

These two get a lot of carry together. It gives me the stockman blades that I like, plus a few basic tools.

Sometimes the SAK will be replaced with a Leatherman squirt. I like the little pliers and have been surprised how useful they are.

I usually have a Swiss Army Knife(Vic Fieldmaster ATM) in my left pocket and a locking folder(Kizer Barbosa ATM) clipped to my right pocket. I use the small blade of the SAK for opening boxes and other stuff that’s messy to a blade. The larger SAK blade for larger general use if I need it and maybe food use. The locking folder is if I need a locking and/or a one-hand-opening blade.

I also keep a Leatherman Style PS on my keychain to top things off.

Let's see...

"Main" folder, clipped right front pocket: ZDP Caly 3, BM 940D2Cf, or fully serrated Endura Wave.
Loose in right front pocket: Whichever "traditoinal" knife or knives I feel like carrying any given day.
In right "tech" pocket of cargo shorts (intended for mp3 players or cell phones) an Opinel no6 carbone
Right cargo pocket: AG Russell Simple Lockback (a very lightweight 3" knife)
Clipped left front pocket: Yellow Tasman Salt PE or Yellow Atlantic Salt SE.
Loose left front pocket: Victorinox Cybertool 29. Keychain with Spyderco Honeybee and Leatherman Squirt S4.
IWB, right side: Spyderco Street Beat.

Sometimes I just have my main folder and SAK and keychain. But other times I might have a pretty heavy load.

If I had and carried something that would fit on my keychain I might carry a 2nd blade but otherwise I only carry one. The only exceptions would be if I am carrying a multitool I will have a dedicated knife on me and if I were taking a specific knife to someone or someplace I would have my EDC of the day on me as well.

Main edc usually some kind of supersteel by the big 3 and a Wenger Eddie Bauer traveler w/partial serrations and a lock(in the watch pocket) ,if I'm carrying an xl edc opt for my victorinox executive
